Are you saying that there isn't already a "Mike the Magic Dragon" WHDLoad install / slave? Haven't checked personally so can't comment...

Anyway, ross has fixed both on floppy now

...but from memory, I thought kipper2k's original request related to "Mike the Magic Dragon" was for a working *floppy* version as all TOSEC cracks suck?

Yes, this is exactly why I made a point of it earlier in the thread: post #17

There was never a working crack for Mike, and as far as i have looked there has never been a mikes WHDload version, prob cos the game was never working and access to the ipf was zero. A whdload version is always welcome

Of course, moving forward this would be good but your initial request has been fulfilled

Mike the Magic Dragon (1987)(Kingsoft)[cr ross][fix 020+AGA]

Full fix for Mike the Magic Dragon, in The Zone! for you.

Now work in every configuration i've tried, from OCS 512KB to AGA 060.
Can be started from HDD (i've not made an installer, you can simply copy floppy content to some folder and launch the tiny
mike.start
script).

I've not opened a new thread for this game, i don't know if it deserve...
But patching it was not so simple.
A generic WHDLoad for my previous version would certainly have been much faster to create, but less fun

Enjoy!

Awesome!!! Thanks as always my friend

...I already have the demo of the [unreleased] sequel Runaway Mike but was missing this; the original

All due to dodgy cracks and no .IPF available.

ADF in The Zone!
(game works only on KS1.x so need to be better fixed...)
Just curious,
I see on the ebay ad for Mike the Magic Dragon it was a kingsoft game.
Back in the day I bought Excalibur which is also kingsoft.
I remember the protection check at game startup was quite the grinder on the floppydrive.
A year or so afterwards I was learning about file hunks/headers and loaded the exe file into devpac monam.

at the begining of the code was a jsr <memaddr>
I stepped over this and started the code and bingo the game started up fine.
I changed the jsr for a couple nop`s and saved the game back to disk

Was the patch for mike the magic dragon the same or was there anything else further in?

Fingers crossed that this was my first sucessful crack

Also this is really simple but not as Excalibur
Code:
--- offset $2AD2 ---
	MOVEA.L	-$6D6E(A4),A6	;2C6C9292
	JSR	(A6) ;4E96 <--- track 80 protection
	MOVE.W	D0,-$7E88(A4)	;39408178
------- to ---------
	MOVEA.L	-$6D6E(A4),A6	;2C6C9292
	MOVEQ	#0,D0 ;7000 <--- 2 bytes patch
	MOVE.W	D0,-$7E88(A4)	;39408178
------------------
And there is also a timid attempt to obfuscate the code for the protection use.

I always thought it was an imperfect crack buy when I played Myth, in the Chambers of Anubis there was missing platform just before the end of the level.

I could check it out, I know it will fit on one disk, pretty sure Miracle removed stuff that didn't need removing to get it on one disk.

There's an 1-disk version of Ghouls & Ghosts that got packed by Il Scuro that has jumbled graphic glitch in the mill level. The original 2-disk Defjam/CCS version didn't have that problem.

I've tried last night three different crack versions and none worked properly (in all configurations) .
I think a one disk, full trained, version is possible (but I just looked quickly).

If there is interest, I can look at it better...

Interesting; I see what you mean.

Original:

Il Scuro packed:

Cheers demoniac

Unfortunately I was using this disk in my collection. Didn't bother testing completely as it's a rubbish game

Time to swap files used...

I've used the Flashtro version for now which is pretty much guaranteed to be good

Ok, so it's 2 disks but has cool trainer options.

...only thing it's missing is a "level select"
