And still no Danish translation!

In Danish, we use the French (I think?!) word "entré" for "hall" so I guess it would end up as "Entré Af Lys" in Danish.

It doesn't feel comfortable to me but at least it's a correct translation.

Some people (mainly evil stepmothers) just use the English word Hall. So it could be "Hall Af Lys" as well.

Dizzy, help me out here man...we could say it's "Bøsse Af Lys" and see how far we get with that.

The Danish word for hall is "sal" or "hal", I think. Don't confuse it with entré. Note, I'm not Danish so I'm just guessing. How about "Lysets sal"?

In Danish, a "sal" is a very large room inside somebody's house where you might have a party (festsal) or put a lot of people eating together (spisesal).

"hal" is even larger, usually it's an entire building, where you might do sporting events (sportshal) or it can house a factory, be used for storage or the farmer puts all his machines there (fabrikshal, lagerhal, maskinhal).

Both are definitely wrong words to use here.

If the "Hall" in "Hall of Light" is supposed to mean the first room you enter when coming in through the front door of a house, "entré" or "hall" are correct words.

I'm not confusing anything, I've been Danish for 33 years..so I have some experience with the language..

In the context of the HOL quotation I'd say that the "hall" is more like a large room than an entrance to a building.

Aren't you contradicting yourself then?

The Hall of Light would literally mean "The entrance of enlightenment" - this might be a better way to translate in some languages.
Is it a hall or an entrance hall?

"The entrance of enlightenment" or "hall of light"

they both sound awesome...

but if its worth any i see "Hall of Light" as like "Hall of Hero's" or "Room of Light"

but hey

"the entrance of enlightenment" could read something like "Foyer of Enlightenment" kinda reads like your waiting to be admitted.

Hmmm, you're right. These days I'd probably see it as the inner room rather than the entrance hall.

If translated to "hal af lys", it means it's a hall that's made of light.

For the average Danish person, this is as exciting and evocative as saying "door of wood".

The Danish language (and mentality) has a knack for pulling everything down to earth "where it belongs".

I say to hell with it and call it "Hal af Lys" anyway!

In polish, to be more precise, that would be:

Sala Światła

That's with the special polish characters.

Why not go with 'Lysets Sal'?
Sounds better and doesn't smell as much of 80's disco like 'Hal af Lys' does
