The german Factor 5 are still going, however.

Doesn't seem to have affected the Turrican/R-Type/Katakis/BC-Kid downloads anyhow. All that's happened by the looks of it is that factor5.com now redirects to the identical factor5.de domain.

It was the German company that developed those games, right?

Factor 5 went to the USA, after they got an offer to do a N64 Star Wars game for Lucas Arts. There is no German F5 division left.

Just a shame about their last game Lair. It looked pants wettingly gorgeous, the 3D programming was spectacular, the music was orchestra-perfect even the voice overs were not that bad. The story was atmospheric.

They just screwed up the user interface and forgot to include an enjoyable game. With all the hardwork they put into the title it is a shame it cannot be re-worked into a quick sequel with all the bits fixed.

I think it means, Druid, that a LOT of the guys from U.S F5 are moving back to Germany, and setting up shop there, along with the guys that were left when they went to the U.S.

This, could actually be a good thing!

A REBIRTH of sorts, where altho the U.S lost a good developer, Europe may soon be able to chalk up ANOTHER COOL DEVELOPER!

I suppose EA might be interested in them? Develop sort of the same relationship as GRIN and DICE have, with bigger mother-companies.

sn't that what they did sine the N64 days, although Lair was far worse than the star wars games to be fair.

Maybe they can release the sourcecode for Turrican 2 now that they are bancrupt.

Good idea. That aside, IIRC the Turrican 2 image they have (or had) on the site is not completable and broken. And they always promised us to redo it.

Yup, it's broken and chances are not getting better that they will ever update it...
Hope there will be some news about the 'Inc. compared to GmbH' story. I'm quite interested to know how they will go on now (if they do at all).

I'm fairly sure a small part of F5 at the very least will find it's feet TCD as they are after all very respected and always pushing harder than anyone on current hardware

Iv'e not always liked what came out of F5 but they were a fairly important part of Nintendo with their Star Wars games, and it's a shame if they to entirely vanish.T2 is my real reason why it's sad to see their demise

Perhaps like Free Radical someone will come to the rescue

Factor 5 Cologne is officially back. They also bought licences for all Rainbow Arts and Softgold games (including source codes etc). Though at the moment there are no plans for games under the Factor 5 label. We'll see what happens in the distant future.
