I'm no expert on this but from my reading of the schematic, that's part of the circuit that drives the clock signal between Alice and Lisa. The connection looks a bit tenuous so it's possible as the board warms up the capacitor is breaking connection.

Its located directly under the lisa chip so will be in line to get warm when lisa warms up.

It looks like it must have been like this from the factory.

I bought the machine around a year ago and have only just got round to testing it.

This picture shows it handing on from a different angle.

If you're competent, Re-Flow & re-align the component & your current troubles may go away. - Definitely worth a go!

It’s that competency bit that lets me down!

I am tempted to have a go just to know that this is the issue.

Got a soldering iron?

You could sweat it off with a pair of tweezers on it looking @ the pics.

Then just hold lightly in place with tweezers & re-flow one side, remove iron & hold to cool.

Then light pressure with tweezers on top whilst re-flowing 2nd side.

Check with a multimeter whether the pads are connected correctly and there is no short with the other pad. It might be electrically OK.

For my A1200 revision 2B, I had to remove E123C and E125C before it became stable - as detailed in this thread:

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a multimeter so will do some tests tonight .

Having read through your informative thread the timing glitch sounds like a possibility.

I have tested using a meter. The three points marked on the image are all to ground.

I'm well out of my depth here so I have no idea if this is good or bad!

That'sas it should be.

Consult this site to see where the other pads should connect to:

Hmmm.

From given what I’ve tested is as it should be and reading the linked tread above about the timing glitch, I think my best approach will be to get the timing glitch fix and new caps.

I’ve packed it up to send to Steve at Amiga passion. I feel i might do more harm than good!

EDIT. By the way that amigapcb website is awesome

Looking at the last post he sent it to What was Amiga Passion (Now Retro Passion). My guess it didn’t get back to the Op if he sent it there

If you are having the same issue. Then find a reputable recapper. I believe in Canada, retrorewind.ca provide this service and is used by a few U.S YouTubers

The other thing to check is that you don’t have any viruses such as the “Happynewyera96” one that can cause random guru errors and crashes. Get hold of ViursZ and the latest xvc.library off Aminet and do a scan.
