SCART + 12V = Oh dear!

Hi all,

I've been trying to get my LCD TV (which supports RGB SCART input) going with my A1200...

There are a few (at least 4!) different wiring diagrams for making use SCART cables for use with the Amiga.

I'm pretty sure that I need the one that has the +12V and +5V connected from the Amiga RGB port to pins 8 & 16 respectively, but I also need some resisitors adding, but I'm not sure what values...

Stupidly (partly confused by the number of wiring diagrams I was looking at) I connected the +12V to pin 16 (instead of pin 8) of the SCART input and, although I got a picture for a few seconds, I also got a horrible burning smell from the telly!

I'm hoping I haven't killed it completely - it still apears to work...

But I'd like a bit of advice on what value resistors I need to add to the +5V and +12V lines from the Amiga to the SCART plug...

Cheers,

Mike.

basicly you should connect RGB, CSYNC to their respective pins and GND. Don't mess with 12v.

Have a look at this thread:

With any luck, PowerPie5000 will soon be posting details of an RGB to SCART cable which will sort this problem out once and for all.

@prowler,

Thanks for the info...!

@coze,

Unfortunately some TVs/monitors require additional lines to set them to select RGB SCART input and I'm pretty sure mine's one of them - I've tried it with a 'standard' SCART cable with no luck.

Cheers,

Mike.
