SCSI controller for A1000?

Hi guys,

I was recently given a couple old SCSI drives and have been thinking about connecting one to my Amiga 1000. I assume what I need is a SCSI controller that plugs into the side expansion port, but I haven't seen any on eBay... Are they rare?

Any suggestions as to where I could find a SCSI controller that will work, and what it's likely to cost?

Thanks.

I have a SCSI controller for the A1000, you need to power the drive externally though.

You can have it too, you just have to do one thing...

peel it from my cold dead hands.

So any A500 SCSI controller will work plugged in backwards?

My A590 works on my A1000, but it blocks the mouse/joystick ports when it's plugged in. I have a mouse with a right-angle connector, so that is ok, but I can't plug in a joystick. Works fine though.

There's a Supra SCSI controller on eBay. From the photo it looks like the case has openings on both sides. Could the side the connection's on be switched so it would work with the 1000? Or would it need to be plugged in backwards and block the joystick port?

It needs to be plugged in backwards. I couldn't really recommend making a bus extender cable, because the A1000's bus is notoriously noisy to begin with.
