A600 Furia, heat experience?

Just an idea, have a A600/ACA620 that creates under load a nice warmth that inside the little case. For my second A600 that need some repairs i got the idea to buy a Furia 33 card. With it's two heatspreader it looks like a little oven for me.

Does it work well and stable in a closed and screwed A600 case without fan mods?

I had one previously before getting a Vampire. Worked find in the stock case with no mods.

The Vampire I have a few heat issues with, it doesn't seem to get too warm but still hangs after a few hours of running, so I designed and 3D printed a few different fan mounts. With a 40mm fan in the case it works a treat and no longer any issues.

If you do have any heat issues though and want to mount a fan then these re my designs

I've never noticed any heat problems even after running the machine for days. It has really big cooling elements.

Mine gets pretty hot. In fact it causes errors with the pcmcia card when unpacking lha files in directory opus after about 30 mins or so. It doesn’t effect the stability of the machine in any other way though.

Thanks for response, i ordered one now. Read about the 4 meg limitation to have PCMCIA working at all, maybe that LHA020 have problems with higher clock and the FPU?

Will not install the iron shield on top when furia was placed, should help to have a bit more airflow in the case.

You don't need the top metal shield anyway. UK models never come with a top RF shield, actually out of all the Amiga's the only UK ones I have ever seen with a top RF shield is the A500 models, the A600 and A1200 didn't have one

My Commodore Amiga 1200 (Rev 1D4) back in the day had the top shield. This is long since gone (the motherboard died eventually). I think I also had a Rev 2 something or the other, and that too had the top shield. So maybe they varied.

My A600 doesn't have the top shield but hard to recall now whether I discarded it or not.

I've had 4 UK A1200s myself, and all had the top shielding. My A600 did not however.

Incredible, they cut down cost by removing that. My first bought A300 Ver 1.0 had a full metal cover and the A600 Ver 2.0d came without it.
The cover has some nice places where you can glue the IDE-CD sled.

I have an A600 with a Furia EC020 v2 (+ Indivision ECS, which also creates heat), and I've never had any instability issues whatsoever. Just remember to have a recapped A600 motherboard and a nice, clean power rail coming in to the machine. Those old original PSUs are often too weak and/or have bad capacitors.

Furthermore, I want to add that the Furia is a lovely accelerator and you get a lot for the money. More so than Individual Computer accelerators, in my opinion.

Guess some of the 1200s must have come with it then, but I haven't ever seen one with it myself. And never seen a UK A600 with it, but never had a Rev1 or 1.3 pass through my hands.

It ain't needed anyways. RF regulations differ from country to country, and the FCC wouldn't let it be sold in the US without it. We never had any of that here so alot of UK stuff didn't have any
