Power Mac G4 with the Amiga in mind

Hi,

I was given a free Power Mac G4 from work (as opposed to being binned). I'm wondering if this system will be of any use for an Amiga user.. in any way really. Any hardware bits that could be used in an Amiga? Anything else?

I'm not much of a Mac user so I've no idea about the Mac (retro)gaming scene either. I bet some of you are Mac users as well so maybe you could throw me some tips..

about all you can really use is the internal harddrive and maybe CDROM and thats about it. the rest is non-interchangable with an Amiga.

G4's are quite *cute* machines, although i do prefer them running linux rather than the butchered apple *nix that comes pre-installed

once you have a decent Linux Distro, you can then emulate miggyness... dosbox... snes... megadrive... everything... quite well indeed!!!!

You don't need linux, OSX is marvellous, and there's e-uae for it (even the PPC version). Have a look for hi-toro, too, which is a good front end for mac e-uae

There might be a way of installing AOS4 on it, but I wouldn't hold your breath

Hmm, ok. Sounds pretty useless then. I've already got a MacBookPro so I could use that one as well.. I just thought maybe it had some "retro value" or use, but I guess I'll let the boys bin it.

Use it as a render farm component. It's a fine machine! It can be used as a good Protools rig too.
Don't bin it, send it to me!
