I need advice on compatible hardware for my A500
I think my floppy drive has gone copput and died
Whenever I put in a disk it does a high pitched screech noise and says read write error!. If this is my floppy drive can someone give me makes/models of floppy drives that I can buy one and replace it!. |

The screeching sounds are caused by introducing floppy disks with mould growth on the recording surfaces. Using a floppy drive for much more than a very short period with such disks may damage the floppy drive permanently.
A common drive type for the A500 is the Chinon FB-354. When you get a replacement drive, sling out any floppy disk(s) which may have caused this problem, and if you hear that noise again, eject the floppy disk immediately. And next time, please don't create two threads concerning the same problem. |
