ACA accelerator issues...

I know you've probably seen a million threads like this before but again I've not been able to find an answer to my specific problem.

I have an Escom 1200 which was sold to me as having had the timing fixes done, the seller assured me he had sent it off to someone before the sale and that they were all done and it was ready to put an accelerator in.

Just received my ACA1232/25 accelerator, plugged it in and... Black screen. The floppy drive makes the first click then it all hangs and all I get is a black screen. Remove the accelerator and it's fine.

Tried it without the hard drive connected and it gets the same result

Does anyone have any suggestions on what this sounds like - PSU not powerful enough, fault with the card or dirty contacts (although I have already cleaned them)?

Edit: right after I wrote this post I tried booting it and it did, all the extra memory was recognised and i opened a few folders then I stupidly restarted it to see if it was a fluke, now it's back to not booting again

Please try another PSU if you have one, the A500 4.5amp brick are good or a modified ATX PSU.

Sometimes the ACA's as they are new cards don't make great contact when fully pressed onto the A1200's connector, try to withdraw it from the slot by about 1mm and see if that helps.

Of course it wont hurt to clean the edge connector on the A1200, IPA is good or you can even use a soft pencil erasor.

If you still have issues contact your reseller for technical support

Thanks for the reply - my first step was to build an ATX power supply for it (Ian Stedman's adapters are superb! I plan on using a Pico PSU eventually but for now it's saved me cutting up a working PSU and a lot of messing about) and now it boots reliably.

Honestly thought it would work with the standard PSU, didn't think it's be so wimpy it wouldn't even boot!

First thing to check is that you installed the card correctly and have not damaged the card.
Check all pins, to make sure none are bent / snapped.
