I cheated on the first part and I found the second part easy.

At first I thought it was a translation error, but if anything it is more understandable in English.

I solved the first riddle immediately and didn't understand the second one at all.

I finally started with "1" and increased the number on every try on the premise that the correct result won't be that big. I was willing to go up to 1000, but luckily it was already over at 301 .

First time we play Ambermoon with friend we tried this too. We was too tired and I said we should stop at 300 and continue next day Next day was great one

First time I played I was hopefully already able to decipher the dictionnary file and I found the answer inside
Else I would never have dared to try all combinations.

Heh, I just played it for the first time, and all I can say is that the 3D movement sucks (why did they do that?) and that I seem to be to much of a lamer to kill some spiders in the wine cellar (and I can't get away from them, either)

But don't give me any pointers

Oh silly, can you imagine how incredibly cool that was back in those days? (It runs on an A500.) And generally speaking I still like the graphics and atmosphere.

Perhaps, yes, but it's been done in a very bad way, and it makes dungeon exploring a huge chore. I find no enjoyment in this.

When I finally found myself a sword, I was able to handle the spiders. All good and well, but... when I got to town I realized that many parts of the game are going to use this horrible 3D movement, and it just made me want to reset

This kind of thing is only put in because it's supposedly cool, while in reality the traditional Dungeon Master movement works best (hands down) for this kind of viewpoint, and it spoils a game with a lot of potential

I disagree, in 1993 I thoroughly enjoyed the 3D.

If you prefer the DM style interface, I recommend playing Amberstar.

I think Ambermoon just hasn't aged very well. The good old Dungeonmaster, for example, has aged very well. It's rock solid, and Ambermoon just has some things that I really don't like.

Could have been a lot better if they simply hadn't bothered with mixed view points (feels like a gimmick) and just stuck to the overhead view. Combat could've been done in Shining Force/Fire Emblem style, which gives the player a greater sense of control without making it easier.

These are just my opinions, of course

Usually I'm not a 3D fan, and even though I prefer the Amberstar way, I found Ambermoon one of the most enjoyable games I ever played.

Matter of taste

Yes, second that. I wonder why Bluebyte clings to the Settlers and Anno franchise and nothing else.

Okay guys, perhaps I've been too harsh and need to try again, although it doesn't help one bit that my PS2 keyboard controller doesn't seem to like to handle more than one cursor key press at a time (same problem with Doom, although DoomAttack plays perfectly with mouse/keyboard combo). This is of course not the game's fault, but still annoying as hell

The only annoying thing for me on both platforms was the combat. It was too slow and the animations became annoying after a while. The first time I played Ambermoon on WinUAE was a MUCH more enjoyable time as you could use the FastForward feature and the game is soooo much more fun.
