Ok, then go to some cities now etc. you'll get some hints. I think you got some information right after entering the outer world.
You do realize that I am one of the original developers, right? |

Not really
You see it was written in 1991, published in 1992 so it's getting closer to its 20th anniversary... contemporary press did release hints, maps etc. and those may even be available in scanned form in places like AMR. |

I started the game from the beginning, I left the first dungeon and walked out on the outer world. No matter where I go looking for quest they are not "available at the moment". Could you at least direct me where I should go first? |

WOW! I moved forward in this game!
First, you need to go to the library in Kal Kalon. I don't know why sometimes you can and sometimes you can't enter it. You need to try. In library you will find Book of World which you need to show to a magician in Vo Marris. to decypher what is written in the Book of World he needs scroll which can be obtained in Mystic Mountains. Currently I am discovering that area. P.S. On the map posted by Herekion there is no dungeon marked in Mystic Mountains. You need to climb on one of the mountains. |

I think you need to travel on feet to find/enter a dungeon.
I don't think anything will be released for the 20th anniversary though, there are lots of other things that take my time... |

Like what?
Please note releasing anything especially very old things takes a lot of time, which I'd rather spend on SPS and KryoFlux. Maybe a new Abandoned Places game someday for mobiles...? |

Like maps and hints Make them official. People like such things. Take me as an example. I couldn't make myself into playing this game for such a long time. And finally I did couple years ago. I stuck and decided to return to it now and I made a progress. Maps would be very helpful

After 20 years chances are that I'd need to play the game to recall how to get things done... the game is really quite long, takes several days of dedicated playing to complete.
One interesting thing: it was one of the first RPGs where you'd get different dungeons based on your decisions; there are 3 different ways to complete the game. There's "replay value" as people like to call that these days, but much better than just getting a different custome or cheap things like that; I think about at least a quarter of the dungeons were completely different based on your choice. Todays handheld devices would be perfect for a new AP game; most of them provide the perfect control and hardware required these days for exactly these kind of games. IFW,
Let me know if we start that AP3 finally I have been waiting like 20 years so far! Optionally, we could just rename http://www.mage-online.com to something like http://apfs-online.com I still have the paper version of the AP1 map! - F |

Not to spam or anything, but... yeah to spam.
http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=24705.45 There are some concepts (magic system and, possibly non linearity) that are akin to AP, whereas other stuff is more similar to EoB and Perihelion. But it's still a long way off... |

Myself I preferred Abandoned Places 2, I don't think I got very far but I did get out of the Dungeon. It was a very laggy experience via emulated software. Will need to try it again with the latest WinUAE.

AP1 was our first commercial game on the Amiga (although all of us had previous commercial experience on other platforms), and we had developed some technology as the game progressed. Obviously, most of those couldn't be retroactively fitted into AP1 - it would have been way too risky and could have delayed the release.
By the time AP1 was finished we had a much better technology ready for AP2; like real-time decompression, half-brite graphics, larger 3D area etc. Naturally, we had better technology by the time AP2 was finished; we had a very fast pseudo-3d renderer that worked fine on a standard A1200 - but AP3 was never to be... |
