Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 AGA Versions - An Amiga Forever install guide!

Quote:
Way back in 2013 I gave you the full guide of how to get these two amazing FREE dungeon crawlers, Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2 AGA editions working through FS-UAE. I also provided two links to be able to download them and run straight off, but both of these were still a little fiddly and was liable to the odd crash. But now, fast forward to 2016 using Amiga Forever, I'll show you how to run and play two of the the most incredible Dungeon Crawler ever to appear on the Amiga and PC by Westwood Studios with full automapping!
http://www.indieretronews.com/2016/0...ons-amiga.html

Wasn't sure if I should put this in Support Games, Amiga Scene or Support Amiga Forever. Anyway this took me over an hour and should help those wanting to get these awesome AGA editions working through Amiga Forever

Send a message via MSN to dlfrsilver
the fonts have not been installed at the right place, hence the bizarre font for the characters name

Yep I knew that, but it involved more work for other people having to turn off Read-Only on their hard drives. Copying from Fonts to Fonts in System was met with a " This drive is write protected "

I've sorted it myself, but what I can do is advise people through that article.

Thanks for the heads up though buddy

EDIT : AND UPDATED!

You don't actually have to install the fonts/libs - just do an 'assign ADD libs: <path to westwood.library>' and 'assign ADD fonts: <path to the fonts>'

I added those to my user-startup and it works great.

I made a bootable HDF to load both games and I have found that I need UAEGFX (rtg.library, devs:picasso96) in the monitors drawer for a decent character screen otherwise the characters are pixelated.

Booting from a Worbench 3.1 disk or plain 3.1 HD gives the same results.

Can anyone suggest a better solution or is that just needed for this fix?

@Arnie can you upload the hdf?
@Neil will the name font be fixed or is that what it is?

Hi Ransom,

The problem with this HDF is the fact that it needs WHDLoad installed (plus the kickstart files).

It also needs PeterK's icon.library or a working UAE/Picasso GFX to get the icons and character images to display correctly.

Add also multiview and the datatypes for the docs, and you have nearly a full WB install.

Although I have the HDF set up for this I can't upload it as it contains too much copyrighted material (WB, kickstart files)

I'm running both on 3.x. Made add assigns. Works great. Really missed playing those games.
