Land of Confusion
Hello all,
Wondering if someone out there can help me. The members on this board have been marvellously helpful before, so I'm hoping I can jog someone's memory again. I'm trying to track down an Amiga demo that I remember one of my friends showing me at high school, which would have been before 1993. The demo played "Land Of Confusion" by Genesis, and I think it actually had the audio sampled, not just a midi file. I remember when he loaded it, the lyrics for the song would load in an AmigaDOS window, then some image (can't recall what it is now) would load over the top of it, then the song would start playing. It was a while ago, and I know it definitely worked on Amiga 500, as that's what we had at school at the time. Anyone remember this demo, or better still, know where I could get it? Thanks in advance everyone |

Doesn't sound like a 'demo' per se, sounds more like a large sample played with lyrics, probably a home brew effort.
Lots of stuff like this was produced by PD companies. |

I remember that demo (which indeed wasn't really a demo).
It was not the full song, but about half and it looped. Yet, it was jaw-dropping back then... I probably have the disk somewhere, but this somewhere is out of my reach currently (at my parents' home) plus I don't yet have a way to read Amiga disks (shame on me... I was thinking about catweasel for years and yet haven't forced myself to make the move)... In the meantime, simulate the effect (even better than the original) by playing the actual MP3 and displaying a screenshot of the cover of that LP at the same time in your PC. :P |

Aha! So it wasn't just me! Hehe
About half the song sounds right...can you remember who made it NLS? Cheers, by the way |

Now I don't.
It is interesting to think that about the same time, back then, a disk was spread from NZ to GR on the other side of the planet. Cheers, love your country. I would move there if I could. |

This looks to be it:
http://www.gresley.de/nostalgie/demo...&t=DigiSound+I I thought the demo might have been 'Crusaders does Genesis' - but that's soundtrackered versions of five other genesis songs. Last edited by myk; 05 January 2008 at 21:04. Reason: broken link |

That's it Myk!! You're the man! And that Crusaders demo sounds interesting; didn't know that one existed. I'll have a hunt for that. Thanks heaps for your help
NLS: it's not bad here, but if you want to come over, even for a holiday, I'd suggest doing it soon...petrol prices ain't exactly going down, and it isn't cheap to buy the stuff here either Thanks again for all the help, you guys are great!!! |

I remember the LoC-"Demo" too. It was about 1/4th of the song max. But it was great work to let the Amiga play "human voice" :-)
