Amiga 500's and Ram expansions

I have a 500 and 500+, the 500 has a 4mb trapdoor expansion, tried to fit this to the 500+ earlier instead of the 512k expansion the 500+ came with.

Are the connectors differant, they look the same, but I cant seem to push the 4mb expansion into the 500+? I even took it to pieces to save doing it through the trapdoor, but it still doesnt seem to want to fit?

4mb in the trapdoor, cant seem to find any mention of it on the internet as theres not much in the way of markings, just a lot of chips...

Of course, Im only assuming its 4mb as it says 4mb next to the switch at the bottom, The jumpers say chip ram and memory respectivley.

Having counted all the chips, it might be 8mb, each chip is a gb71c4256a-80? 256k chips? and theres 32 of them.

You'll need a daughter board under the GARY chip to access more than 512k of that. It probably plugs into the red connector.

Physically it will fit, but you are missing some cables and a small daughter board for the GARY chip.

That looks like a BaseBoard + 4

can you get a better picture of any writing on the card, I will be able to help further.

Nope, only markings on it are vn76 rev 1. Thge amiga using kick 1.3 and has a red power light....

Cable is plugged in and disappears inside someone on my 500 which Im guessing was plugged in, ive not opened this one yet.

Very strange, avail in workbench gives..

512k chip
1.5mb fast...
Thats the most I can get the amiga to see with it fitted, no matter what the jumpers are set to...

I might open this 500 up tomorrow and try this ram upgrade on my 500+

You'll need to add the rest with an addmem command. Hope you can find more info somewhere.

I'd advise against connecting it to the A500+ before you have located a manual.
