Sorry about the amount of pictures everyone, but I was quite proud of this and I was inspired by this thread (and nagged by my wife) to do it.
This is what the back end of my garage used to look like; Note the boiler on the wall for reference So I got a builder in and got him to do this to it. Installing a new window on the left a new door to the house on the right, a new door to the under stairs cupboard by the boiler and lifting the floor level to the same as the rest of the house. Then he built a dividing wall halfway across the garage (so I still have ½ a garage for tools, lawnmowers and bikes etc) Then is was our turn to paint the walls (Wife’s department) and lay a parquet floor (my department) Finished room other than painting the skirts and gas meter cupboard As some of you may have seen on the other thread (What did you buy today?), she’d brought me a Mame arcade machine a few weeks ago and now I have bought it in from storage (in time for my birthday last week) Unfortunately I’ve yet to play on it as these 2 won’t let me….. The machine should be a perfect set up to run Amiga Emulation too with no bother at all (even came with a keyboard and mouse). So that’s my next task. PS sorry no pictures of an Amiga this time, may be next time... Last edited by Rob 1; 12 October 2013 at 13:28. Reason: Spelling |

Looks awesome!
Can you tell me more about the parquet floor (price per square meter, how hard to fit etc), my missus wants it done in the hall. |

Thanks mate, I can't recommend this stuff enough, fits together so well it was a pleasure to lay. I'll PM you some details on prices and the on-line shop I got it from next week when I'm back at the office. It was great value for money I think twenty something quid per m2 plus glue and floor treatment etc. compared with the 75 pound per m2 I had seen in local DIY stores like Wickes. Quote:
I know, i know. That’s why they like the game we play it 3 player in the lounge. I suppose I could get a usb controller for this to play along with them. Thanks HOL2001 |

Very impressive, Rob!
I simply haven't the space for a games room.... until my kids leave the nest. *does sums* works out to around six years time - in theory lol. |

my 'games room' has been moved from room to room with the birth of each child and has now been relegated to the loft (which i did convert) but its now so full of clutter, old toys etc that its kind of been made redundant. so im looking to get it sorted out again as a little man cave:
looks like this at the moment with a couple of crts and a vectrex on the other side. there are console boxes stacked up on each side of the picture out of view. behind where im standing though is a mountain of old kids clothes, toys and artwork. |

You need to clear the toys and clothes mate and get yourself a couple of game playing chairs You could put the art work on the walls? Just a thought, there's a lot of weight in all that, did you reinforce the joists before boarding over? |
