NMS has 'Mostly Negative' reviews, 12% positive last month... making it among lowest rated games on steam.

So easy to blame hackers, obviously wanted to be honest with people then changed tack! Truth hurts too much for this company

I can't disagree more with you... despite the steep price of NMS, I must say I enjoy it quite a bit. It surely needs a certain mindset to play the game, it's more a somewhat peaceful walking sim than anything else. But quite enjoyable at that.

As for Elite Dangerous, I'm so impressed by it. I liked the fact it resembles Elite Frontier so much. on top of that, the horizon season turns out quite nicely. You might want to give E : D another chance for that matter imho. But... this is of course a very personal opinion.

New update: http://www.no-mans-sky.com/foundation-update/

But is it making the game any better?

That's a tough one. On the one hand, they're giving the (more vocal) detractors exactly what they've been asking for - base building.

On the other hand, base building is pretty much the last thing the game needs. Adding in the perceived omissions at launch is where they should be - portals, sandworms, enormous dinosaurs, thrilling battles through canyons etc etc.

But then there's the very welcome interface adjustments, inventory management improvement, waypoints/map markers, player-owned freighters etc. Now that does sound more like it.

So it's a bit of Marmite patch then, some will love it and others will hate it! So the 'missing features' are still very much missing then? However, if this is the first of many 'updates' then I guess there is the possibility of missing features being added later, at least they started addressing it's many issues!

This is why Anubis chatted me about this on Steam the other day

It's on my wishlist, just haven't gotten around to it yet, but I did get No Mans Sky while it was on sale recently.

Starbound is cool, until you try to get all achievements...

At the moment going from planet to planet, looking for creatures, bugs, books and little statues - and this will take a while to do all. (still fun when you get to planet without proper gear, for example on cold planet without EPP with heating )

Last achievement will require destroying lots of planet. (10 mil materials collected ) There was instruction how to do it with killing character over and over, but not sure if that still works...

So I'm taking a break from Fallout 4 and started playing No Mans Sky, loving it so far, guess I like the exploration and base building grind

Quite enjoying the missions that go with the base building

Also been playing a lot of Subnautica too - it's kinda like NMS, but compressed into a tiny map. Beautiful game to look at though.

Very nice, still figuring out some of the crafting, I needed to follow the log to create some base building items and then hire a contractor so to speak that specializes in BUILDING.

So now I can finally look at doing some land vehicle crafting too although I've been hoofing it all around my home/base planet finding all the ruins and knowledge stones.

I also finally upgraded my original ship to a newer one with better all around stats.

My goal is to locate all the bases and encampments on my home world

Well, I tried to play NMS on PS4, and in first try did not get even off the ground... Inventory and crafting are mess and bit hard to work with. Casual play is everything but casual. No wonder they are not doing as well as ED.

Hey Anubis, long time no see

I've recently picked this up for PS4 too as it's now uber cheap, have to agree with your assessment. I found the whole experience very messy and a lot of things anti-intuitive.
Even after sticking with it for a couple of hours I was finding it extremely frustrating and getting very little enjoyment out of the whole experience

It's a real shame as I absolutely love the art style.

The art style is kick-ass, and looks like something straight off the covers of my 70s sci-fi collection. Unfortunately yes, the UI is an unholy mess and even on PC is clunky and unintuitive. There are apparently more fixes to the UI in the works, so fingers crossed - I'm flitting about the universe now with an upgraded hyperdrive and it's bloody great fun.

Hey Mick, welcome back! How are you? What's new? Still @ Saturn forum?

NMS is not as much fun as Elite Dangerous - I strongly recommend this one, as far better space exploration game.
