Game always played fine on my 2 Amiga 1200 until I updated the OS to 3.1.4...
Now it doesn't find doomsound.library...

I'm using NovaCoder's ScummVM 1.5.0.007 (68060).

Searched the .HDF that I created and don't have (or need "doomsound.library").

Why is this needed for ScummVM and DOTT?

@jurassicman, check this post out over at Amiga.org. Per Gulliver, "An updated and fully working doomsound.library has been uploaded to Aminet."

http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/DoomSndLibs373

Hope this helps.....

Great!!!
Just tried the doomsound.library.060 on my A1200 with 1260/PPC and it works!

I'll try on my A1200/030 the standard doomsound.library that came with the package but I think it will solve the issue there as well!

Thanks so much!!!

Because it was coded before the dawn of time

My newer ScummVM ports use AHI.

hi Novacoder, i was so pleased with the version you made of DOTT with full speech, it was slow but playable on a CD32 with TF328 but i changed to the TF330 and the game launching but i can't see nothing, all screen is corrupt, there is some issue of games have this same problem(doom attack, wing commander) it's about the akiko who have problem with 68030, i think it's the problem, is it possible to launch you game without akiko ? , the game playng in the background, i hear the speech but cannot see the picture.......
thanks for your Work !
regards.

Thanks for the kind words but you'd be much better off using my ScummVM AGA port.

Cool, glad you got scummVM ECS working on your cd32

None of my scummVM ports use blazewcp (they all use internal c2p instead).

By the way, a guy from Atari-scene has optimized an old version of SCUMMVM for run "Day Of the tentacle" in 68000's Ataris with good speed. Will be cool take a look at source-code and make an Amiga OCS version.

DOTT on Atari SCUM-VM lite needs a 16MHz 68000 with cache. That said a good port to Amiga should be faster on A1200 14MHz EC020 with fast RAM and be even better on faster Amiga's.

Since original games worked well on low-end amigas, it's theorically possible to make SCUMMVM run fast on slow amigas.

But this probably needs a lot of rework, specially in the display section.

My 030 port of ScummVM v1.5 is about the fastest you can get ScummVM to run without resorting to either a complete rewrite or some clever use of assembler.

http://aminet.net/package/game/misc/ScummVM_AGA_030

The newer Amiga ports of ScummVM weren't done by me and are slower than my ports when running on real classic hardware.

It's also worth keeping in mind that because ScummVM supports many game engines and host computers it can never run as fast as the original games, it is after all an interpreter.

My original DOTT Amiga port (this thread) was pretty fast, it ran at basically full speed on a A1200 with just a memory expansion and had both SFX and music.

Unfortunately my original DOTT port was a bit buggy though

Did you have to endian swap the audio as well? And was the original sfx 8 bit? The sprites and fonts were they chunky as well or planar? Does the RLE compression require twice as much work on the Amiga as well because of the endian thing?
