getting Online

i've put this here cos i think it's a real newbie question:

I need to get online on the miggy, but dunno how/where to start. Can i go on thru the null modem cable to the PC, giving me ISDN access or do i need to use a 56k modem on the serial port? what software do I need? help!

well if you wanted to spend a little bit of money then I would really suggest a network card and miami - then maybe Internet connection sharing on the PC?

Yes, you can connect your Amiga to another computer connected to the Internet via Nullmodem and then use it to browse. You need some kind of routing software on the PC side and a TCP/IP stack on the Amiga. Miami is the best one you can have.

But memory-hungry!

If you have 4MB of Fast you should be OK, though. I can confirm this works perfectly, I connected my Amiga to my linux setup through nullmodem, running pppd on the linux box and using Miami on the miggy, and it worked perfectly.

But if you get a network card it is SOOO much better It IS honest go on get one!

Then if you've got broadband or an ISDN router (rather than just a card in the PC) the Amiga can go off round the net on it's own! SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER...

It doesn't cost a lot - I think mine was 30 notes and that was about 5 years ago!

Am I making myself clear?
