TechnoSound 2 making noise

I am trying to use a Technosound sampler I have, and its input is waaaay too noisy. There's a constant humm, I can't even use it

Is this a normal problem? How would I fix it?
My other TS2 seems to have the same issue.

Not sure if its same issue, but it did only work right for me on A500/A600 and not on my A1200. I cant remember if it was simple to solve or not.

My TST2 worked well on A500 and now on A1200. You can check connection, cable, ground, external influences and differnt audio sources.

I can vouch for this. My unit worked well in A500, A600, two A1200 and A4000. No problems at all.

Well I have one sampler that works (an AMAS2), but both technosounds are having a hiss... I gotta try a different cable.

If you think the Sampler is out of order you can open it and check the usual stuff. As far as I can remember I opened it without destroying the case.

Yeah I don't mind opening it but, what is the "usual stuff"?

I mean cold solder joints, capacitors, oxidation. Things that could be seen after optical check.

I'll check for that. Maybe the capacitors are all fucked!
How do you recognize a "cold solder joint", though?

Thanks!

I think you may find the A500 / A600 / A1200 internal screen isn’t earthed to ground, you can do this by using a 0.47UF capacitor between the screen of the computer and the earth of your mains (don’t try this if you are not electronically minded)

If you have 2 TST2 boxes which his, it may be a flaw with your input or source , if you can,. try the line out from a power amp, usually they have a good smoothing circuit and should remove the hiss, solder joints can be detected by twisting the sampler (not on the D-type), if the hiss goes, you have a bad earth or solder joint
