But then your pilot can get sacked if you fail too many missions so it's not clever to constantly mess them up

I recently completed it for the HOL but it was a lengthy play:

I only wish the WHDLoad version would give me the option to save the game without quitting.

Inspired by this, I've been playing Wings again too. There's this one mission - 12, or thereabouts, where you're supposed to protect the base from a bomber. The trouble is, no matter how quickly I shoot the bomber down (although his plane doesn't really plummet like the others - he catches fire, but seems to remain on course no matter how much ammo I fill him with), the mission ends with failure.

you need to get that bomber _very_ fast because he is very close to the drop zone where he's laying his eggs onto your base Always hated the fact that they made it that tight on time...

Hi guys. I grew up with an Amiga, and Wings was my favourite game. I recently downloaded WinUAE and a cracked ROM of Wings. The only problem is, after saving/exiting the game after mission 4, it refuses to run again, saying there's a problem with Reel 2. Is it because the ROM is cracked? And if so, is there somewhere I can get an uncracked version, and, ideally, a manual?

way back when I played it on my A500 years ago, I completed the game using a cracked copy (cracked by Skid Row iirc), I'm sure you can find several different sources for the game, even cinemaware.com has it up (cracked version)... if you want to buy an original keep your eyes open on ebay and be prepared to pay a fair amount for it.

Old thread, I suppose, but just chiming in to say I loved this game, too. It seemed to be the epitome of Cinemaware games. Movie-like, a good story, good graphics that fit the theme, and a fun game to boot. I never did finish it, though, even though I played for ages..

The copy I had was a Skid Row crack. I downloaded the one from Cinemaware, and it did the exact same thing - wouldn't load up after saving following the fourth mission. So I saved it after the third, completed the fourth and fifth, and then saved it. It has worked fine on every mission since. (I'm only up to about the ninth one, but still... )

So it wouldn't work on a save after the fourth mission, but has worked on every other one so far.

Great game but I stopped playing eventually as it does become very repetitive.

You can also grab the WHDload version (which is the original one) at http://www.whdownload.com/games/Pack..._v1.0_0410.zip

My biggest gripe with the game the repetitiveness.. I think perhaps they could've cut some of the levels and perhaps have some longer diary entrances instead. It just becomes too much eventually (well for me anyway).
