Melon Dezign - How to skin a cat

This is a ECS demo, but if you run it on an AGA-machine it has a couple of extra features.

But when i run it with my config:

68020 fastes poss., chip 2meg, fast 8meg, slow 1meg. kick31, chipset AGA, sound 100% acc., floppy 100% comp.

everything works fine after "the bouncing girl", winuae 0.8.23 crashes.

Have you tried it without the slow ram? No A1200 has slow ram.

Tested without slow ram, and the same thing happens...crash. Thanks anyway though...i'll adjust my setup anyway...

The demo works with a ecs setup but supposedly there are extra effects when run on a AGA machine and thats when the emulator crash occurs.

Have you tried a VANILLA A1200 setup ?

68020, 2MB CHIP, 0MB FAST, 0MB SLOW, KS 3.0 ?

Yep, now i have

Using the vanilla a1200 setup the demo only makes it to the second screen so i tried adding 2mb of fast ram and the same thing happens, emulator crash.

hmmmmm, Okay

ECS demo but has AGA features....

how about.

Have you gone to the CPU screen, and in the CPU emulation screen have you ticked "fastest possible but maintain chipset timing" ?

Maybe kickstart 2.04 with AGA chipset ? i dunno.

Obviously your trying to run the demo from ADF.... put it in the Zone and I'll load it on my A1200 and see how far I get.. that will tell you if its the ADF thats at fault.

Hmm, I just tried it with 0.8.23beta4 that I had lying around, couldn't be bothered to download the final version.. :-)

It works just fine.

3.1 (40.63, A500-600-2000 version :-)
EC020
2MB CHIP
Fastest possible /w chipset timing
cycle exact CPU and blitter (else the twirly text writers flashed awfully)

Worked just fine after the rubber matilde part. It's a long time since I last saw that demo, so I can't remember what's different to the vanilla A500 effects (and I'm at work so I shouldn't be watching demos)..

But at least I managed to run it. I might test it later on with the current release and see if Toni broke something.. ;-)

[edit] Ok, with the release version I still can't get it to crash, but some parts blink regardless of the blitter settings. ECS and AGA, no matter.

Tried it, worked fine, and I see what you mean about the "Blink" in some parts apart from that, worked good. I just put it down to "Emulation" and making my P4-2.53 groan.

Version: Latest.

[edit] I didnt run it on my A1200....., Just latest Winuae.

I figured it out

Yep, i got to work with AGA chipset finally

The diffrence was that i had 68020 instead of 68EC020 as cpu. With 68EC020 it works great but with 68020 the emu crashes :eek
