Back then i wrote some simple programms in BlitzBasic to create the waveforms i was looking for. The big plus for code generated chip waveforms is that they can be packed very efficently (for typical square modulated waves at least). So my Protracker "chiptunes" often needed 50-100kb but were packed only a few kb.
