I suppose ( i'm not sure at all ) that the amiga serial is controlled by the cpu, and the cpu is used also to refresh the screen. And if there are less colors, the refresh is faster, and so the cpu has got more time to receive data from the serial port= more speed.

That;s kind of spot on . The refresh rate surely isn't controlled by the 68k (that's what the custom chipset is there for), but reducing the color depth makes the Amiga go faster, and achieve higher serial transfer rates.

trans28 is made to work with serial.device (the wb serial driver) at 28800.

and a modification :
i said before i used trans28 at 28800 with BaudBandit.device. No : it was with serial.device
