My Projects

Hi guys,

I have been modding my Amigas for a while now, both before I temporaraly left the scene, and since my return.

Here is some work I have been doing since I got back. This will be the machine of choice for the new ACA600/30 card I am getting from Amigakit (thanks guys!)

I have so far put in a stereo amp with internal speakers and a light show in time with the sound. Thanks to Primark fo rthe perfect bit of kit to canabalise for that! just 5 and a lot of resoldering! What I liked most about this was it worked first time!!

I have been trying to upload the video of it to youtube, but without much success. but I have got it onto photobucket;

http://s1186.photobucket.com/albums/...t=HPIM1844.mp4

Hope thats viewable.

I have other projects on the go too, and the old ones. I will add to this thread as time goes by.

Here are a couple of pics;

The amp, lights and speakers from under the hood.

A bit closer;

Lrt me know what you guys think. Be nice!

Next time yes I sure I can do less glueing. This time I was just beng thourough. Highly annoying when you think you have fnished all the soldering just to find wire has broken away. Lot of pushing and pulling to get everything in place is all.

Is that the Amigaman glue incident that left you smothered in hot glue, frozen in time - only to be freed 15 years later?

Thank you Boo Boo. Actually it was a set of speakers I bought from Primark for 5. They had the stereo amp and the lightshow all built in, and was powered by USB or battery. Perfect 5V powr supply required without further circuit building, and a normal audio input. The lights were on seperate circuit boards so a lot of soldering of LEDs was needed, but I think it came out well for a first attempt.

If I have it done right then it should cut out in favour of external speakers once they are plugged in.

I will be adding the ACA600 when it arrives too.

I bought it from a shop called Primark here in the UK. The video link should let you see the lights working, and a Merry Christmas tune!!

It may look even nicer if you put in the screws for the CF card adapter the other way round: The screw's head on the outside and the nut on the inside. The screw near the power plug looks like it's almost conflicting with the power supply's connector.

You have to file things nice, man. All the cuts are in odd shapes. Be nice to the computer!
Otherwise, good job

Yeah I am kinda new at this. Dremmel is a little powerful! Can get away from you so easily.

I was originally planning to use a key operated switch to on/off the card, but just as I was putting it all together it failed! but this black switch is fairly hardy, and can't be pressed easily. The other two can be operated any time, so I wasn't worried about them.

what about a row of dip switches instead?... those would require a small screwdriver to flip.

I put my switches in the little niche on the underside, back of the PCMCIA. Then they can't be accidentally pressed, level7 and accelerator on/off have powerful effects

Good idea, but I just love the look and feel of the toggle switches.

Anyway, who wants to see the most untidy hack ever? An A600 in a tower case I put together about 14 years ago... and still works
