Sorry, yes. You are right of course, I meant the abomination that is the SX1. ;-)
(Cant say the sx32 backplate is stylish either, but the idea of keeping it internal was right.)

It wasn't an abomination, it served me well at the time because there wasn't anything else, of course their later models changed and improved upon it.

The reason it was external of course was it was developed in line with the FMV module so it could be used at the same time, something the SX32 no longer had to worry about since Commodore were long gone.

Of course it was useful as it added a lot of *functionality*.. But the design...

For the record.. This is my opinion and I feel exactly the same about the 32x and Mega CD Expansions for the Megadrive. :-)

Yeah i agree the design at the time i wished it was underneath the CD32 ala the Promodule, but as you say the functionality was there.

I like the look of the first Mega-CD/Megadrive combo, the cheaper 2nd model is awful imo! And yeah the 32-X was a waste of time and resources by Sega.

Yes the Promodule did it right IMO but I never could understand why they couldn't color match the damn thing ;-)
Was it so hard to make the case "CD32 grey"?

Yeah i don't know, strange decision.

In the UK i never saw a Promodule advertised for sale, we had obviously the SX-1 which i bought in 1994, then the SX32, but they were way too much money even new (bargain compared to ebay prices i suppose!) never saw the promodule, would have prob got one had it been (and at the right price)

Never saw it for sale in Sweden either back then. (Then again.. by the time the CD32 launched I had an accelerated 1200 so I hated the CD32 ;-)
Being produced in Poland I guess it was more common in Eastern Europe and maybe Germany?
I wonder if someone bought the bluprints and rights for it from Elsat.. ;-)

This is the same company I guess?

Missed this a month ago, but might as well post this for future reference; (and casual googlers that might come across the thread)
Hermes is officially dead as of Aug 14th 2017...

It doesn't matter, there's plenty of low-cost CD32 expansions being made/in the pipeline now:

But he has very good reasons not to do it!
I would be very sad if no one else had picked up the gauntlet, but people did, and I am glad. It is also due to his expressing interest in making Hermes that we got to the point we did, I believe.
Everyone's happy, is what I meant, not "screw Stedy!", quite the opposite, massive respects for him!
