great little demo, congrats photon ! (seems I'm three years late, lol )
I just tried it on my A3000, and it seems a winuae related problem. I observed another problem with the left head though, which I think maybe 040 related (it disappears under background when it rises above a certain limit, I couldn't reproduce it on winuae). |

The inspiration was '88-'89 demos so to get the right design I did the gfx myself, hehe. Except for the nice monsters by Uncle Tom. Cycle Exact in WinUAE ran just a little faster than an original slowmem A500, so when I fixed my A500 and ran it, it stuttered I think there might be some star flicker on accelerated Amigas, and I know there is a bug with the sprite split on some configurations. Will make room for some Amiga coding at then end of the summer vacation, will most likely fix it then, but (ehm blush) I've been too lazy / doing other things, "prioritizing", "procrastinating", amnesia, take your pick |

Unfortunately due to sprite emulation bug (sprite was visible even if it was outside of ddfstrt/ddfstop in non-AGA mode without brdsprt set. only diwstrt/diwstop was checked previously), this demo will look much worse (same as in real A500) in next WinUAE version

@Photon - would you be able to repost your new demo to The Zone? I missed it first time round but would love to check it out!

Hm, Stingray. That's Scoopex XmasDemo from 1992 that I fixed up in 2006, not Blitter Sweet.

@TheCyberDruid: check the post above from StingRay when I asked for a repost of the demo - he posted a link to it on Pouet - you can find it for download there.
Edit: Oooops, there's me telling you to check posts and I just noticed Photon's post saying StingRay's link was wrong. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a chopper... Last edited by pmc; 05 October 2008 at 13:51. Reason: Being a spanner... |

Someone wants my demo, yay! I'll try my very best to devote all free time this weekend to correct the artifacts stemming from not coding on a real Amiga back then. I will start to look at the reasons for the sprite bug, however I'm in a hotel so no way to fix it unless it's obvious. But sport-hunting for bugs instead of sport-killing bugs is more humane anyway! hehe

@Photon
I'm very interested in seeing new demos for the old hardware I like your demo and it would be great to see more form you Do you mean the left demon head with the sprite bug? The upper half disappears with the A500 most common quickstart when it's in the upper position. Hope you find and can fix that bug |

Problem is very simple:
00039bfe: 0092 0080 ; DDFSTRT := 0x0080 00039c02: 0094 0088 ; DDFSTOP := 0x0088 DDFSTRT larger than sprite x-coordinate = sprite is hidden. (except if using AGA-only BRDSPRT feature) (DDFSTOP does not matter, sprites are visible from DDFSTRT to end of line. This is undocumented feature, logically it should be DDFSTRT to DDFSTOP but it isn't) |
