I do have both StuffIt v4 and v5 install since some files only seem to work with one or the other.

Hey all,

Had a chance to re-visit this today.

Thanks for the advice to use HFVExlorer Booboo, this done the trick and I was able to get the .sit files inside the HD Image.

I tried The Settlers II that was uploaded by Fabie and that works fine abliet a little slow, and thats on my 060 @50mhz

Looks awesome in 800x600 though!

Fabie, I didn't get a chance to try Doom yet, it took a full hour for the sellers II to extract and after playing for a little while things were starting to get a little warm lol so she's resting now...

Steve.

I'm using Mediator setup, so its a Voodoo 5 running at 800x600 256col and the processor is 060 @ 50mhz and even this is still slow.

I might try it with lower colours and 640x480 to see if it helps.

But I don't think you'd enjoy much on an 030 with AGA

I tried SS with my A1200D which has a Blizzard 1230IV @ 50mhz and it was a little slow even in mono, but maybe I'm just spoiled by the more powerful system. (I didn't try Settlers II though)

Shame they don't have a PPC version of Shapeshifter for me to play with

One you go PPC your emulating the 68k so I dont know what speed would be like.

I know I have an original CD of it in my parents' attic, but that's in Ireland and I'm in Scotland. I'll see if I can get someone at home to make an ISO of it...

Edit: I also have Sim City 2000 and a few other original 68k Mac games and apps. Must get images of them before my parents clean out the attic or something!

Sorry to drag up an old thread....

Any chance someone can upload a working settlers 2 .sit to the zone again?

ive downloaded the one from machintoshgarden and placed it into the games hardfile Cammy uploaded. Ive used StuffIt to extract it successfully but clicking on the Settlers 2 icon doesnt launch the game.

Any ideas? I've got an 060 and 128mb ram with 80mb reserved for the mac. all other games launch fine.

Ok, the settlersii.sit from that site is the one I'm using.

Do I also need to download and unzip the 113mb zip file from there too?

Ive worked out how to get it to run. I had to download and install the Virtual CD/DVD-ROM utility (available at emaculation.com). I could then mount the 104mb settlersII_1_0.toast image. After that, the game would run when double clicking on the Settlers II FAT [k] file which can be unarchived from the settlersii.sit file using StuffIt. Phew!

The game runs amazing well with an 060, very fast and responsive. The colours are a little off, which i can't quite work out why but its only a minor issue. Scrolling is a little sluggish given the slow full-screen refresh but it's not bad.

Settlers 2 on an Amiga! Fancy that.

Colours being off are likely to do with the graphics driver you're using in Shapeshifter. Are you running it on an AGA screenmode or a graphics card? It ran perfectly on my A1200 with a graphics card...

I'm using MuEVD with 256 colour AGA. Actually, colours in game seem fine, it's the fmv and the title menu that seem slightly off.

Yeah, that would explain it alright. There's probably some sort of hardware acceleration or direct accesses that don't work well with the driver. It's impressive that it works at all on AGA in 256 colours!

It's amazing but it's needs a very fast 060 to be playable.
