It is possible, but it's a lot more work. The A500+ Agnus is not pin compatible with the old motherboards.

I haven't screwed it down yet, it needs at least 7 days to cure

This looks quite interesting! Can you provide more details on the modifications you have done to this Amiga? I am modding my A500 Rev. 8a with additional chipram and HxC Gotek + LCD Screen. The possibility to use HDMI would awesome

Parts Please

Any one know where I can get the parts for this mod? I would prefer components that have been tested if at all possible. I've got an 8a that is screaming at me to upgrade . Having parts that are pretested will save me a lot of pain if I need to troubleshoot!

I want my Rev.8A board only to add 512 KB from Ram expansion to 1 MB Chip.

Do I need to remove the two blobs from U32?

Hi,
I tried this mod with a rev. 8A.1 but I have some issue when installing a trapdoor ram expansion.

No problem at all with a same mod to a rev. 8A.

Are there some differences between rev. 8A and rev. 8A.1?

I don't think so in terms of doing this mod, but yes there are some small differences between rev 8A and rev 8A.1. Denise (OCS vs ECS) might be different and maybe Fat Agnus 8375 390544-01,02 vs 8375 318069-10,11. Also I've read there were some small changes in the clock charging circuit but I'm not certain of that, others can fill me in...

Did you manage to get the mod working with your rev 8A.1 now? What Fat Agnus chip do you have in that board?

If it helps anyone else...I did this mod using ultra-flat sockets for the RAM chips and they clear the keyboard nicely. This board is a keeper for me Some pictures below:

I have tried to do this modification but it does not work.
MB is A500+ rev 8A1, Fat agnus is 390544-01 8375.
RAM chips are Siemens HYB514256B-70 installed on motherboard.

I bought same chips but no luck, done everything as described on this thread, just flashing screen.

What can cause this problem?

For now i reverted back to original state and amiga is working.

What color is the screen? Link below might help you out a bit in troubleshooting. If it's green then probably has something to do with the RAM chips you added. Try install a diagrom and troubleshoot further.

Just retried this mod again and i am getting green screen, which is ram fault.
I have ordered these chips from Aliexpress, so it can be that are chips are bad.

But ordered many times ram chips for C64/128 friom Aliexpress and never had issues.

Is there anything else that can cause this error? Also tried to replace logic chip with new one but same error.
