Anyone remember how to quickly make a mono sample from a stereo in octamed? I'm rusty.

I used to use Aegis Audiomaster IV for this purpose.

Ok. That'll have to be it for tonight. All notes done. New instruments in. Sound better than they did. Might tweak again. Going for quite a retro synth feel as its old. I'd honestly prefer just the st square waves I think and the white noise snare :-). Will send a copy to you Galahad.

That damn tune will be in my head for ages now. I didn't even need to listen to the original to program this one, haven't played it for months and months.

OK. I'm going to have to zone it. Notes - 1: tempo is wrong, i've forgotten how to argue with octamed to make the tempo save ok for soundtracker mods. 2: sounds are being tweaked still. 3. there's a couple of notes missing (which people may not even notice but i do). Use it for testing. i'll try and tweak the sounds this week. They sound alright though I think. EDIT Zoned.

Sorry, didnt know you had done this.

Right as a conversion it sounds fine, but its not 'Amiga' enough for me. Whilst i have no problems with a direct conversion of the ST original tune, your conversion sounds almost i the realms of what the ST can be pushed to do.

So, more hard hitting drums not the weedy ones, maybe a slightly more inreresting lead, again its just too weedy sounding.

If you can do that, then i cant see any reason why we cant include it in the final release.

Thanks for your efforts, just a bit more work if youre up for it, but please, dont hold back, Amigarise the hell out of it

Hi Galahad, no worries. Will try and get some samples sounding good on Amiga. I've found a different workflow sampling directly on Amiga. Hopefully should be better.

i did an unrequested take to the title too, using more acoustic samples and make it sound like an irish folktune - despite some ironing on tune up is mostly done, and in the zone: any feedback?

Sorry, meant to get back to you.

Im going to be as constructive as possible. I really didnt like it at all

I welcome contributions from anyone and everyone, however, some of the tunes I have had from some people are of such a high calibre that anything not quite up to their standard unfortunately shows up.

When ADRdesign did the music for Where Time Stood Still, he did me a 1:1 ST conversion and then a really kick ass Amiga remix.

ADRdesign has set a bar, Hoffman has also contributed to Starquaks and his effort is well......awesome. Leathered (RIP) did music for WTSS and that was great as well.

Any submissions have to be of the same standard as what has come before, and unfortunately on this occassion, i dont feel that module is right.

I sound like a record mogul rejecting talent ffs

Thats the downside of not have a music studio at home and work almost only from ripped samples, will persevere on further projects until accepted or blocked

No-one will ever be blocked, feel free to keep trying.

And for the record, I remember Hoffman long before he had a studio, and he did fine.

Dont look at not having a studio as a handicap, use what you have

My studio has a desk, a midi keyboard, a computer and a set of active monitor speakers. That's it! Everything is software based these days. The studio mainly acts as a creative space so just find somewhere comfortable to work.

If you're having trouble finding sounds go and raid a module archive for protracker samples. Or grab some free vst plugins to create some sounds. There's also massive amounts of free sample packs online these days. By all means pillage my tunes! I used to steal so many myself.

Hey guys. Very sorry time has been really taken up by work. I'll look at this again and spin Amiga up. The studio doesn't always help. Samples lose something being transferred.
