WinUAE public beta #5 + #6 + #7 + #8 +#9
Beta #8 added.
Read this before downloading or posting! WinUAE public beta #9 Sources Max 1 week before final is out (originally before christmas but that most likely won't happen) Changelog: Beta 9: (really really the final!) - interrupt timing tweak (Gravity Force in ce-mode) - CPU Idle tweak (slightly less aggressive) - file dialogs work again in Windows9X/ME.. (does someone really still use it?) - sound problems really fixed now Beta 8: (RC3, really final? sound issue fixed?) - random sound automatic restart delay fixed - sound underflow handling improved - JIT NATMEM VirtalFree() incorrect parameters fixed (MS Application Verifier report) Beta 7 (RC2, this will be the final if no major bugs found) - AGA sprites outside display window emulated when sprite is above or below the display window. Previously they were only visible when it was on left or right side of display window. (fixes Spheris Legacy missing status graphics) - clear garbage at the bottom of screen for example when switching from doubled to non-doubled - serial port set to none in config file didn't work properly - cloned stereo and 4 channel sound mode uses proper initialization (according to MSDN WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE is required if >2 channels but for some reason "incorrect" way also worked previously..) - mask unused DIWHIGH bits, could have caused narrow image appearing on screen when loading statefile with DIWHIGH having highest bit set and ECS Agnus or AGA enabled. - border blanking feature (ECS/AGA BPLCON3 BRDRBLNK-bit) now also updates top and bottom borders Beta 6: (RC) - serial port "friendly" names listed in serial port selection, also detects virtual (for example bluetooth) serial ports. Windows 2000+ only. W9X/ME shows normal "legacy" names. - more bsdsocket stability fixes - 1M ROM image support (upper half maps to regular KS space, lower half to 0xe00000) Apparently A600/A1200/A4000 does the same with 2x512K EPROMs - compiler optimization settings changed for release build Beta 5: - remove winuae-specific command line parameters before passing them to configuration parser. - internal serial and parallel port selection updates (partially in b4 + fixes in b5) - Paula serial port emulation fixed (broke in b4) - more uaeserial.device tweaks - defined more Picasso96 modeIDs, now most PC display modes have unique ID (updating display card/drivers, moving between PCs does not anymore cause mysterious mode changes) NOTE: you may need to reset your Picasso96 display mode if you used mode other than 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. - fixed another random Picasso96<>native switching crash - added -maxmem command line parameter, "-maxmem 1024" enables 1G Z3Fast support. (32-bit max) Note: can cause random side-effects depending on total memory and/or Windows version.. Large RTG RAM sizes require larger maxmem parameter (but values over ~1060 may not work, check winuaebootlog.txt). Pointless but fun option - vsync mode sound pitch shifting fixed. Pitch can still shift slightly in some cases. - bsdsocket stability fix Last edited by Toni Wilen; 29 December 2006 at 19:10. |

Reasonable. However, in version 3.5.X, this bulletin board software still does not seem to be able to change the "outside" thread topic too...

Quick update: b6 updated with following changes:
- AGA sprites outside display window emulated when sprite is above or below the display window. Previously it was only emulated when sprite was on left or right side of display window. (fixes Spheris Legacy missing status graphics) - clear garbage at the bottom of screen for example when switching from doubled to non-doubled |

either b5 or b6 seems to have broken my config files. if i go into i/o ports config, it will always say serial port in my configuration is not valid for my machine. it has always been set to "none" since i have serial ports dissabled on pc anyway. this has not been a problem untill now. the knockon effect seems to be that i can no longer have sound !!!. everything is set correctly in config file and has always worked fine upto b4. but now once emu is running all sound related options in chipset and sound preferences always stay dissabled, cant work out why :/
Edit: recopied B4 over and saved the config files with it. b4 doesnt complain about serial and sound is back working again . b6 then seems to work if i DONT update the config file. Last edited by Mad-Matt; 25 December 2006 at 01:36. |

Sound card? Sound error message in log? Stereo or cloned store or 4 channels? "win32.serial_port=xxxx" line in log file before and after updating? EDIT: fixed. Still no idea about sound issue. Last edited by Toni Wilen; 25 December 2006 at 10:23. |

i understand, doesnt make sense when i read it back either lol.
beta 4 everything is ok. beta 6, i lose sound if i update the config file and also comes up with serial port error in the io perfs. in the log file i find this. armode == 0 37-375: SOUND: Secondary CreateSoundBuffer() failure: 80070057 S=1 F=0007 C=0057 (87) (An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function) 37-375: SOUND: DirectSound driver freed 37-375: Sorry, can't initialize sound. if i reload beta 4 and save the config file, everything works again . |

The good news is beta 7 seems to have fixed it. no more issue with serial and ive not had an issue with sound initializing. appears that the serial/sound thing seems tied together some how, fixing one, fixed the other. An anomaly however, it appears if i f12 while the emulation is running and resume, the sound will be destroyed (turn into crap) pressing f12 and resuming a few times it usualy is fixed on 3rd time. (so if i use f12 to change anything, ill need to enter the prefs 3 times) If i use 4 channel mode instead of stereo however, 2 channels are lost or play wrong. Non of this happens in 1.3.3 non beta related, but is it possable to keep the g15 uae module on the lcd without manualy selecting it ? the clock seems to take priority and doesnt appear to be a way to set it lower priority. I could dissable clock i suppose, but dont really want to do that. just want the uae panel to stay in front while running. Last edited by Mad-Matt; 27 December 2006 at 01:26. |

Hi Toni,
Using B7 and have noticed a strange audio bug when playing Spheris Legacy, when it gets to the play start screen I noticed my joystick wasn't being picked up so I swapped 1 to 2, no luck, then I set it from compatability mode to configuration 1...Bingo the pad was going BUT the audio was almost screaming and flashing red in its status bar. I've just tried the same thing in widowed, non Vsync'ed etc and its doing the same thing. My XP Pro is SP2 (fully up to date), its a P4 3.2, 1 gig ram, Geforce 5900 and crappy but working AC'97 onboard with latest drivers for all. I don't know if a bug or my machine, just seeing if this is replicated by anyone else? Edit: If I turn off the Sound / auto switching then its all fine.. EDIT 2: Just had the same on Brian the Lion, won't have a chance to try another title tonight but I'm thinking it will do it on any title? Last edited by Mclane; 27 December 2006 at 18:10. |

This seems random as it might be when I set the pad up, or if I went in to turn on the drive sounds etc.. I got a log I mad but as WinUAE didn't crash for a dump report (it just freezes with the F12 requestor box over the screen) I doubt if its much help. 36-046: 00F80000 512K/1 = 512K Kickstart ROM (C3BDB240) 36-046: =KS ROM v2.04 (A500+) rev 37.175 (512k) 36-078: PAL mode, 50Hz (h=227 v=312) 36-093: SOUND: safe=5252 bs=512 w=46724 max=71300 tof=93145 tuf=122272 36-109: PAL mode, 50Hz (h=227 v=312) 36-734 [31 117x000]: SERIAL: period=372, baud=9600, hsyncs=16 PC=f80130 36-734 [31 114x007]: Illegal instruction: 4e7b at 00F80B4C -> 00F80BD4 2006-12-28 16:53:40 40-593 [224 058x202]: Byte put to custom register DFF02A PC=000703EC 40-609 [225 000x000]: PAL mode, 77Hz (h=227 v=202) 40-625 [226 000x000]: PAL mode, 50Hz (h=227 v=312) 2006-12-28 16:53:41 41-609 [275 111x054]: Illegal instruction: 4e7a at 0000CA50 -> 0000CA5C 2006-12-28 16:53:51 51-109 [749 183x174]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:54:01 01-390 [1261 215x237]: Byte put to custom register DFF0A9 PC=00010A1C 01-390 [1261 202x240]: Byte put to custom register DFF0B9 PC=00010A1C 01-390 [1261 186x243]: Byte put to custom register DFF0D9 PC=00010A1C 01-500 [1267 098x237]: Byte put to custom register DFF0B9 PC=00010A1C 01-625 [1273 016x237]: Byte put to custom register DFF0A9 PC=00010A1C 01-625 [1273 123x238]: Byte put to custom register DFF0B9 PC=00010A1C 01-750 [1279 018x237]: Byte put to custom register DFF0A9 PC=00010A1C 01-750 [1279 125x238]: Byte put to custom register DFF0B9 PC=00010A1C 01-875 [1285 009x237]: Byte put to custom register DFF0A9 PC=00010A1C 2006-12-28 16:54:26 26-734 [2525 060x150]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:54:41 41-718: SOUND: safe=5008 bs=512 w=52244 max=76820 tof=98665 tuf=127792 41-734: PAL mode, 50Hz (h=227 v=312) 2006-12-28 16:54:46 46-046 [214 013x048]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:54:50 50-750 [448 003x001]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:04 04-828 [1150 056x224]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:05 05-484 [1183 216x050]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:06 06-406 [1229 109x023]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:07 07-640 [1290 147x096]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:08 08-640 [1340 146x024]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:09 09-359 [1376 060x144]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:10 10-015 [1409 039x098]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:11 11-031 [1459 015x030]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 11-734 [1494 095x230]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:12 12-406 [1528 156x005]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:14 14-218 [1618 072x172]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:15 15-859 [1700 085x007]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:16 16-531 [1733 064x211]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:17 17-640 [1789 102x159]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:18 18-343 [1824 190x160]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:19 19-046 [1859 140x305]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:20 20-093 [1911 066x126]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 20-718 [1942 211x258]: MOTORDELAY! fd78e 2006-12-28 16:55:52 52-546: SOUND: safe=4864 bs=512 w=57620 max=82196 tof=104041 tuf=2096 |

I've also just tried it out without a disk image in and in various Amiga model modes, the lock up happened in all tried, mostly if I turned Vsync on (in full screen or not).
Dunno if this helps.. Oh, I also tried clearing the registry (via WinUAE) to see if that made a difference, sadly no...Same lock up although not actually performing a crash, you don't even get a 'Not responding' window title although I didn't wait that long. Just seems like its caught in a freeze.. |

Gave it another try with a log, it froze again but did say that it wasn't responding. Seems any multiple returns to the F12 menu's prompt this freeze.
