Thanks for making the video, s2325! I'm sorry I never got back with this in time.
If anyone would like to try the latest half-level demo of Sonic the Hedgehog on their Amiga I have just uploaded a new archive http://amigachristmastree.ultimateam...ckboneDemo.lha Here's a screenshot of my Workbench showing the cool new GlowIcon Rebel pixelled for our Sonic games: |

Hey guys. I'll resize and remap some wallpaper images for anyone who wants to use it on their Workbench, but if you would like the original image it's here: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7030/6...2587a321_o.png

I love the new version. A glitch allowed me to go through a wall I shouldn't have (I was jumping at the time) and fell to the bottom of the level where I was able to walk along the bottom of the level instead of dying! (FYI, I was playing the Turbo version when this happened on my A600 setup in WinUAE)
I know it's still a work-in-progress, so perhaps you could add it to your "to-do" list Regards, Lonewolf10 |

Thanks for pointing out the bug, I'm sure there are a few places through the level where this might happen thanks to Backbone's crappy tiling engine. Can you remember exactly where you fell through so I can have a look at the blocks and add some more solid ones below?

Sorry, it's been a while. I have taken a few snaps so it's easier for you to take a look at. 1 & 2 are from the top route and 3 is the bottom route. The 3rd one is easier to slip through than 1 & 2. I was playing the Turbo version in WinUAE (on my A600 setup) when I slipped through all of the marked parts. Hope this helps. Regards, Lonewolf10 |

Just to update this thread; I tried several times to get a 'Sonic on the Amiga' experience, and this is what I came up with.
Ok, first of all I tried to track down a fan made sonic for the Amiga, these are the WinUAE savestates I made of the results: (All these savestates can be loaded by going to the Miscellaneous tab, click 'Load State...' ) Sonic Dual Playfield Demo Sonic Backbone Demo 1 Sonic Backbone 030 Demo I gave up on the original fanmade idea and tried the emulator approach. First I tried to find a Sega Mega Drive / Genesis emulator that workes on M68k, but they all seem to require PPC. I even tried the GENESIS option on MESS, but no joy. So that failed. Next I found a working Saga Master System emulators, these are the savestates: Sonic The Hedgehog SMS (Press ESC to see the options) Sonic The Hedgehog 2 SMS (Press ESC to see the options) So that was fun. Next I found there was a hack of Sonic on the SNES. Since I can get Snes9x working on the miggy, this is the result: Sonic The Hedgehog 4 SNES As we all know, this is a hack of the Speedy Gonzales game. It's keyboard only, press Enter to start, arrow keys, 'c' = jump. It runs very fast on my 040 configuration with JIT + setpatch. So that wasn't quite right. Next I found a version called 'Sonyc' for the MSX2 machine. I got the emulator running and finding the disk in the drive but it errored out with a V9958 (Yamaha video display chip error) - so I didn't get Sonyc working after all. And that's as far as I got with all this. Any thoughts? btw, I use Gens+ to play Sonic SMD on my PC. There is a version of Gens+ for the ami but it's OS4 (ELF files, not HUNK). I tried running it through AROS but it didn't run. Does Morph OS run ELF files? Last edited by lifeschool; 13 August 2012 at 18:48. |
