Thank you prowler, but I think the file is too old to find it 4 years later in The Zone.

Have a nice day

Hi,

I know this is a very old thread, but I hope someone is still monitoring it.
Also I pursue the goal to get the network running with the A8088XT bridgeboard.

Most obstacles overcome, but I do not get ebserver.exe working.

If I run, it will hang forever without output:
Code:
C:\>ebserver
If I run it on a normal PC, it offcourse will fail because of the missing janus, but at least it shows some output:
Code:
C:\>ebserver
Amiga Etherbridge Server Version 1.2.2 (8086)
Copyright (c) by Heiko Pruessing in 1997-99,2013
Compiled Oct 27 2013 19:39:47
Can't install Janus Service!
Notice the remark 8086. Can it be that it is build only for the 8086 and higher ?
And due the 8088 (`lesser then 8086`) having a 8bit databus has it will not function correctly ?

Aminet doesn't provide older version of the packages.
Is there someone willing to share an older working version for the etherbridge packge for the 8088 ?

Thanks
Marcel

The used setup for trying to get it working:
  • Amiga B2000 R6.2
  • Plain MC68000 (accelerator off)
  • Board: A2088XT REV 4
  • Bios: 3.6.1 (also tried 3.5)
  • Janus 2.1
  • Janus Handler Library: 36.85
  • Janus Library Version: 36.83
  • Ethernetbridge V1.2.2 (29th Oct. 2013)
  • 3Com 3c509 Etherlink III with loadable 8bit packet driver for 8088
  • MS-DOS 5.0 (also tried the orginal 3.3)

For the ones who still wants to get it working with the A2088:

In January 2019 I contacted Heiko Pruessing (the author of etherbridge) about the 2088 issues.

At the end of January 2019 he released an new version 2.01 of etherbridge which among others:
  • Fixes some issues with the 2088 (compiler flag in 1.2 wasn't for the 8088)
  • Includes a installer
  • Includes the an 8 bit driver of 3Com 3c509 that I found on vcfed.org.

The results:
Code:
Down	Up	Stack CPU(MHz) mode 2088 bios	8088xt turbo patch	Remark
kB p/s	kB p/s
56 AmiTCP 3.0b 030@50	polling	3.6.1
72 RoadShow 1.13 demo	030@50	polling	3.6.1
65 RoadShow 1.13 deDmo	030@40	polling 3.6.1
62.6 RoadShow 1.13 demo	030@40	interupt 3.6.1
78 RoadShow 1.13 demo	030@40	polling 3.6.1 yes
66.8 RoadShow 1.13 demo	030@40	polling	3.5 yes
88.9	104	RoadShow 1.13 030@40	polling	3.5 yes
97.7	149	RoadShow 1.13 030@40	polling 3.5 yes	Used RAMDISK
My setup is in the previous message, as accelerator a GVP GForce 030 with 16MB is used.
A test client GUI-FTP 3.1.
When turbo patch is used; cpuclk=1 (7.15MHz)

So don't expect miracles, but it beats using the floppy or serial cable.
