Can you check how much memory is on-board, the motherboard revision, and the battery if still present for leakage ?

OK The A3000 battery has a hint of leak but nothing has reached the mbo so I am going to have a new battery fitted right away. I have ordered a replacement from:
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=475 and will have it fitted by an experienced engineer.

Prior to testing I have asked a question on the support forum:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=839313#post839313
about using an lcd monitor for testing especially bearing in mind there is a Picasso Ii included. I believe it may be necessary to remove a resistor and am not certain which of my LCd monitors (if any) would be the best choice for testing.

All comments welcome - if you have any advice on the testing please post to the support forum link- just use this marketplace forum thread to ask for info or express interest.
Thanks David
PS
Just heard the new battery is being shipped today so hopefully I will get it monday. As soon as it has been fitted I will test the system out and be ready to haggle <chuckles> with those who are interested

Do not yet have a feel for value so tell me what you are interested in - I am looking for offers. Its all a bit tentative until everything has been tested - hopefully by this time next week that should be clearer.

I also do not know whether it would be more helpful to break the "stuff" down into components for separate sale or as one bundle. So please let me know what you are interested in.

When I have a few offers or indications in I will post them up here and make some decision about where to go from there.

My only other alternative is to sell everything on ebay - but I would prefer to deal with known enthusiasts here.

If you want to talk privately then Email me

I am moving towards breaking the system down into component parts for sale after I have tested everything.

Hi David, from the photo the battery leak looks a bit nasty, is it my imagination or are the components to the right of the battery in the last pic all green with corrosion, one resistor looks to have cracked open too.

There appears to be a kinda dark stain on the pcb which has spread under the DIP and PLCC sockets above right of the battery also. You should get this area of the board cleaned up when you replace the battery. Have a close look for corroded pins and traces.

Just seen engineer. He has made a prelimibnary check and says all the components seem to be OK - no damage. He will fit the new battery kit, clean up as you suggest and then give compoenets and circuit a final check. Should be back with me tomorrow.

There's quite a bit of acid leak going on indeed, and with the A3000 which is a multilayer board, it's not easy to tell if any vias are destroyed or not.
You should fully test the system (audio, video, hard disk&floppy read/write, mouse ports etc) before going any further with your sale.

And one more thing: The battery acid will keep crawling further, even with the battery removed, if you don't treat it with lemon juice (or something, it's said to stop the acid from developing) which will stop the development.

That is the plan when the board comes back.

Just reread your comment a bit more carefully as I am picking up the the mbo this moring.

Surely lemon juice contains citric acid?

Is the leak acid or alkali? If acid it needs to be neuralized !
