Hopefully Amithlon will run on my Core i5 + 16Gig Ram with only Sata drives in future.

Okay, I think we need to modify this. The Dell B110 is the one I've been working on lately that had issues with built-in USB. I've been using a PCI card with USB ports (see my posts a few before this), so if you update the list, you may want to remove the line about onboard USB working with kernel 3.10 (I have no idea why I thought it worked before). Onboard sound says it is supported but I haven't done more than a beep test. I will test again tonight.

Will do, I've removed the USB line. I also added the card with SATA/USB/IDE you linked under "Misc Hardware" and tagged "USB tested under ArakAttack/OpenPCI driver". Typically if you get the beep, you've got sound. If I recall, when I tested I got a beep and then could play sampled audio, if no beep, no sampled audio.

Are you going to update your guide with kernel 4 instructions?
As to the Soundblaster, look at the main chip on it. Does it say EMU10K? That's the one that is specifically supported by AHI using OpenPCI. In order to make it work, you have to disable pciinsmod in the user-startup, install OpenPCI libraries, reboot and AHI should autodetect the SBLive card and you should start to hear things. Of course, run PuhDaBaer to reroute paula sounds to AHI. |

I have no issues with my soundblaster and with pciinsmod running (the drivers are commented out for SB cards in the file in s: using the drivers090 package). ** I use pciinsmod for the NIC on my physical PC with a SB Live card.
Yes, just need to format my VB amithlon system volume, reinstall OS3.9/patches and then walk-thru kernel 4 kernel replacement and driver install. It's done exactly like kernel 3, just put the kernel4 in the same place kernel 3 is, edit your small file to reference it and extract kernel 4 drivers to ram: and copy them exactly like you copy them when copying kernel 3 drivers over (s/#? to s:, c/#? to c: and devs/#? to devs: etc..). I need to clean up because I'm constantly changing/adding/testing things on my VB Amithlon and I want a clean setup. |

Hey man, if possible, could you throw the PFS3 steps into the documentation as well? Not really pertinent to installing Amithlon but you include a lot of other tangential stuff so I figured it could help

SATA is not the issue.. I had SATA only drives on my D945GCLF2 but 2Gb+ IS the issue... Most boards only run 1Gb. I think D945GCLF2 runs with 2Gb as it is single channel design (single slot) board

I'm probably going to just stick to the basics of getting Amithlon installed and up and running and leave the additional stuff (PFS3, SFS, Visual enhancements/tweaks, Utilities, etc..) to the user(s) to do what they want. I may continue to add "notes" throughout with some of the extras I've added, but I want users to get Amithlon up and running and then from that point on, treat it as their Amiga system and do what they want.

Fair enough, makes sense. I have it working in virtualbox and I can get it to successfully boot about 1/3 of the time now! Thanks for the howto info.

Hoping to build the kernel myself in the next few days so I can start experimenting with changes.

the few problems I had with my latest test is getting BB2 to install, the ROM Update never extracts so I Manually install the BB2 updates but can't patch the KS ROM.
Also Can't get MUI3.8 or 4.0 to install "error on line 299". Add another Socket 939 Board to the list, Gigabyte K8N-SC939 w 1GB RAM. Caution: If installing the BB3-BB4 Combo backup CD0 and CD0.info as they get overwritten and the CD no longer works. Last edited by shaf; 25 March 2016 at 21:34. Reason: added BB#-BB$ Caution note |

Currently any boards with DDR3 memory will not work unless a way is found to bypass the 1GB Memory limit as the smallest DDR3 Memory is 2 GB.

I've bought 1 GB an 512 MB sticks of DDR3 memory. One of my motherboards I tested used DDR3 so I bought (2) 512 MB and (1) 1 GB stick to test.

on the Gigabyte K8N-SC939 Onboard Audio is Disabled , Network and USB Ports not tested yet, still trying to solve MUI Install problem. Probably will reinstall and not use Unarc to extract BoingBags but instead use LHA. On Next Test I will remove SB Live Casrd and attempt to use Onboard Audio.

A few hints for installing the extra files. Suggest adding this to the documentation.
1. Do not use Unarc to extract boingbags use lha instead. 2. Be careful with the version of mui being installed, mui38usr.lha is OK but mui38.lha will not install because of info file with blank file name. |

I never had an issue with unarc and boingbag2 but I'll add a note that it may be an issue. I've always used mui38usr.lha so never hit any issues with it, thanks for the info on mui38.lha.

after further tests with the GA-K8N-SC939 Motherboard and Kernel 3.10, Onboard USB works, Onboard NIC (Marvell 8001) is not detected. will need to re-test with Kernel4 installed.
Using AGP NVidia 6800GS Graphics Card w 256Mb MEM. |

I'm creating a VM of CentOS right now so that I can finish up the Kernel Compiling guide and hope to have that up early next week. Overall layout is done, just need to walk through installing/configuring/downloading/compiling with pictures. |
