Strange date in B1230-IV
I encounter a strange behavior from one of my B1230-IVs. When I save date/time it is properly stored until a cold start. But then date is reset to 11-Nov-11 and time is 11:11. Battery was replaced last year, but it is true that this Amiga was not run for some time since so the accumulator was not regularly recharged.
Does anyone have an idea why so strange date/time? I mean if Amiga has not battery backed RTC, date is usually 1978, isnt it? Amiga is Commodore 1200 1D4, KS3.1. |

The date might come from the boot disk icon date or something like.

My A4000 had the date stuck at 1998 for years with a clean install from 1995. Go figure.

Where exactly shall I measure charging, on battery pins?

I'd check that the battery is still good first. With the B1200-IV removed from your amiga, measure the voltage between the + and - terminals of the battery.
On my B1230-IV, which was been unused and unpowered for about 12 Months, the initial B1230-IV rechargeable battery voltage was about 0.67 volts. When the A1200 and B1230-IV are both powered, the voltage over the B1230-IV battery should be about 3.0 volts between the +ve and -ve terminals. After charging for a about 2 minutes, powering the A1200 down, disconnecting the B1230-IV and the B1230-IV's battery voltage was now about 1.92 volts. I'd expect this voltage to become nearer to 3.0 volts as the battery becomes closer to fully charged. Last edited by jlin_au; 02 May 2023 at 08:11. Reason: add more info |

So: after 6 days off-power I pulled Blizz out of my Amiga and measured the battery. It reads 3.04V. When I put it back, switch the computer on an measure the battery pins, it reads stable 3.08V.

No. 11.11. 11:11:11 even after soft reset.

Okay, it definitely is not in the card. I swapped Blizzard from my other Amiga into this one and the date is again 11.11. 11:11:11. So it must be something in the OS.
