Possible to use Joystick as Mouse on 500 ?

Until I can order a mouse,
is it there a program that allows a joystick to act as a mouse?

Maybe http://aminet.net/package/util/mouse/JoyMouse

But you can also hold down an Amiga key and use the cursor keys. (Left Amiga and Left Alt together for a left-click, Right Amiga and Right Alt together for a right-click.)

And add shift to move in larger increments.

Yes, you can use a joystick (plugged into the Joystick 1 port, IIRC) to control the A500 Workbench mouse cursor and the fire button(s) to mimic the mouse button(s) with no special driver or program loaded.

I have used this method as a quick and crude method of testing whether an Amiga joystick works or not when I have received it as part of a bundle included with something I have bought, usually from eBay.

Mind you, it's a bit fiddly; I wouldn't want to be using it like that for too long. But if you're ordering a mouse soon, then you won't have to!

With practice you can move the pointer to wherever you want - but it's *really* tedious - you have to "stir" the stick between centre, right, up-right, up for one axis, and centre, down, down-left, left for the other axis. (I think - I might have got the exact combinations wrong.) It's doable, but a total ballache.

Hehe, that's why I said it was "a bit fiddly". It's okay for testing the odd joystick, though.
