A508ide + 16gb cf
Hi amigans.
I'm stuck.....! First my setup. * A500Plus 2MBchip KS3.1 * A508IDE (kipper2k) * SanDisk 16GB CF-card * I'll be running ClassicWB 68K (3.1) So how do I make one 500MB partition and the rest on second partition out of 16GB? Tried alot of guides, 1st partition is no problem, but second only shows up as 2GB or it doen't show at all. In WinUAE there's no problem. On real Amiga 1st partition allways work, but the second partition (~14GB) is unreadable/unformatable. I know that one solution is 2GB+2GB+2GB+2GB and so on. I'm very new to this, so be gentle Thanks in advance. /Fendrix |

No, no no and no, don't do it!. It is dangerous. It does not fix the real problem, it can look like it works but sooner or later your data is gone.
1) Mount the CF as IDE0 to match real hardware behavior. (Use A600 hardware config) 2) Read this first: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61666 |

Use PFS3AIO as your filesystem on both partitions.

Burn new kickstarts with updated scsi.device. And why don't Cloanto sell those along with their new OS3.1... oh excuse me, Workbench 3.1 floppy set? Should call it OS... sorry, Workbench 3.2.

Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
HDToolbox doesn't give me bigger partitions than ~3.4GB when using A500CWB3.1, A600CWB3.1 & A1200CWB3.1 Using PFS3AIO 0x50445303 MaxTrans: 0x0001fe00 I can do it all in ClassicWB3.9 with WinUAE. I can't find the proper scsi.device. Thanks again /Fendrix |

Only 3.9 (or was it 3.5?) hdtoolbox shows >4G partition size correctly. Ignore it, it is visual bug only.

So, under A600 emulation. Made one 500MB and one with the rest of CF (minus a few megs). Both PFS3DS.
Identifier: 0x50445303 Max Transfer: 0x0001fe00 Formated 1st partition under A600 emulation (didn't format 2nd partition yet) Transfered my CWB3.1 onto 1st partition. Copied scsi.device 43.47 (Cosmos) to Devs (renamed). Booted new CF under A500Plus emulation and 2nd partition now shows 2435MB when I was about to format. Shell shows scsi.device version 43.47. Booted on real A500Plus and got endless bootloop. Some progress though. /Fendrix Last edited by Fendrix; 19 August 2015 at 15:35. |

Changed to Doobrey's scsi.device_A600_44.20 and real Amiga boots up fine.
But when I'm about to format the large partition (~14GB) it only shows 2.4GB. In HDToolbox the 2nd partition shows the rest of CF. Is it ok to format using rightclick-->Icons-->Format then quickformat? /Fendrix Last edited by Fendrix; 19 August 2015 at 19:41. |

I did the format, partition 2 showed 1.2GB in Dopus. Moved to the emulation (3.9) and partition was ~14GB
So I filled up the partition with ~4GB of games, demos & stuff. Switched back to real Amiga and files outside the 1.2GB was unreadable. Tested diffrent scsi.devices without luck. As I'm using PFS3DS I figured out that scsi.device patching wasn't needed, so I removed the scsi.device. Booting on real Amiga gave me 2nd partition unusable "DH1:????". Any suggestions? /Fendrix |

You need the scsi.device patch since you are going above 7.8GiB. That's as far as the A600/1200 ROM scsi.device goes with DirectSCSI.
Use scsi.device 43.45 and PFS3DS or PFS3AIO. I recommend PFS3AIO, as it will not mount the partition if it can't read the last block. |

Hi Jope, followed your advise.
Now I'm using PFS3AIO with A1200IDE.scsi.device.43.45 by Chris & Toni. Should I format the big partition in real Amiga or WinUAE? /Fendrix |

Use the real Amiga. And remember: always format quick. No ifs, no buts, always quick.
