A500 with only 512k and what games?
I am not sure how to search on this or where to post, so please move this thread as needed.
Is there a way to know what games will work with a vanilla Amiga 500 (i.e. not expanded memory)? Some games (I transfer from PC to Amiga with ADF sender and write to floppy) just quit to blank screen. Maybe it is the transfer, maybe it is a bad floppy, or could it be memory problem? Some examples of fails: Black Crypt - Black screen after creating party Street Rod (cr Skid Row) - Crash after copy protection test ... Dungeon Master - Does not boot Gravity Force 2 - Does not boot ... This is a crystal clear lack of memory: Dungeon Master 2.0 - "Needs 1 mb ram!" |

Pinball Fantasies: "Game was shipped as a 3-disk and a 4-disk version. The fourth disk featured a "slimmed" version of the game for 512K Amigas. For that to work, you had to insert course disk 2 resp. 3, then the game prompted you to insert disk 4. Graphically and technically, the 512K version is the same as the 1M version, but there is absolutely no sound (not even SFX). "
Centurion - Defender of Rome, Wonderland (separate version), Mach 3, Solomon's Key, Ovedrive (Infacto, separate version), Crown of Ardania, Garrison, Llamatron You need game manuals to be sure. |

OK, thanks. I figured there somewhere would be a list of amiga games and their hardware requirements.

I would say games from 1985 to 1990 would be the ones that would work with 512k, not a lot were 1MB, some did make use of extra memory though... So mose OCS games

The amount of time wasted on transferring adfs to floppy and testing whether games work. OMG. Buy yourself a gotek. And try each Every adf in less then half the time your spending transferring to floppies, unless you need them to be on floppies for other reasons?
Most early OSC games released in 80's will work. Dungeon Master does work on non expanded a500. You have a bad adf or bad transfer or bad floppy. (A gotek will fix all these issues in a heartbeat. ) |

He may have fun just checking, not playing. And many scene demos will work on unexpanded A500.

Haha, in a way I had fun checking out transferring games but I am kind of past that. I still plan to use adf transfer but I am buying new floppys, and I guess I could check the adfs in a virtual Amiga, and I might upgrade the memory. Maybe a external floppy drive too.
I got two reasons for not buying a usb transfer thingie or similar. 1) I used only floppys back in the days (however, I never transferred from a PC, only copied from friends...) 2) I want to throttle my Amiga playing/using: a lot of hassle and I will stick to a few games and applications. |

Sadly Dungeon Master shows "One Megabyte Required". Was the second adf I tried to load when my Gotek showed up last week. 😳
Still waiting on my memory expansion to get here. I bought an A501 with my original A500 when it first came out, so I have never seen that screen before. Thanks, Ron |

games from 1991 and ancient: most of them will work with 512k only
however some of them disables sound effects or music etc after 1991 games were designed to work on the A600 1mb /yet a few of them still work on the unexapanded A500 ie pp hammer, addams family, nicky boom are fantastic games yet works fully with 512k Last edited by Sandro; 13 November 2015 at 06:40. |

I saw the 1mb required when I tried DM 2.0. Gameswise I'm basically only interested in RPGs. I have a bunch of 2player gems working: Super Cars II, IK+, Barbarian, Bubble Bobble, Gravity Force 1, Super Offroad, Speedball II...

Oh, so that's why I get along better with party members than people.

Looking for this info too, but HOL and Lemon don’t have this search function, thankfully Moby Games have a decent (although probably lacking some titles its better than nothing).
