A4000 won't boot

Here's a strange problem...

Recently my Amiga 4000 stopped working, so I went through all the stages of working out what was wrong.

I've changed the processor card, changed the RAM, removed all the zorro cards, removed EVERYTHING except the motherboard and left it for hours to see if it would get anywhere... but no luck... all I get it the A4000 sitting on the grey screen..

If I plug the keyboard into it I can activeate and de-activate caps lock and if a hard drive is in there it spins up and the hdd access light comes on...

So I went to the trouble of buying a new A4000 motherboard... (THE EXPENSE >_<) And I plugged it in, all optimistic.. and... SAME PROBLEM..

I'm running out of ideas... The only thing I haven't changed is the power supply... and I can't find one to change it with..

Anyone got any suggestions on hat I should check next on the Amiga?

And does anyone have a pinout of the power connector on the A4000 so I can mod an AT power suply to check it?

That could be the problem, try to find a replacement if nothing else works.

If I remember rightly, the Amiga spits out debug info from the serial port at 9600 baud. Can anyone confirm this? You could connect a PC via null modem and see what's happening.

Thanks all, I took out, cleaned off and reseated the roms... Didn't work at first but then I put all my weight down onto the roms and now it's working like it used to again

I wonder if that's the problem with my old board too.. if it is I'm gunna have 2 A4000s ^_^

Thanks again.

Binox: If you ever need any spare parts et al, I am just over the bridge in Plymouth, I could have lent you a spare PSU (had that been the real problem).

Always check the CMOS batt which damages the board, is the fan on the PSU spinning? If so its unusual that it would be faulty
