work on offline version
Hi,
are you already working on an offline version of HOL? And is there a way to make the screenshots named in the TOSEC Convention like on: http://www.screenshotarchive.com In that way it would be easier to integrate them into other systems/emulators. thx a lot for your nice information site |

At the moment the offline version isn't a very high priority, as the the main focus is to fill missing fields, to verify existing data and to correct bad data. The screenshots themselves often change and are updated with new ones.
It would take a lot of work to convert the screens to a TOSEC naming convention, so I can't see it happening! |

One offline version of HOL for windows is currently in dev, it will be a native Directx app and not a LAMP system.

I thought about converting the screenshots,
i can give you my reason. I am Xbox user and we have recently got a wonderfull port of WinUAE by xport . I wanna make a screenshot set for this emu. I looked at the structure of HOL. You have for every game a ID, pictures have names like 3247_b1.png, So its easy to compare the ID to the gamename, I think i can write a php script that renamens the numbered screenshot to the gamename, i kicked the tosec naming idea, because wrote an script that cuts the names from the first ( or [ and moves any file from each game into an folder, at the end i have the clear namen like "wings of fury" wihout any tosec info, than i zipped them, inside the zips they have the tosec name. With the same modified script or a bat script i can convert them into the xport emulator screenshot format. Is there any way that you can give me an extract from the database, that includes the ID, Gamename and screenshot names. select ID, name, shots from HOL or something. 3247 Aliex 3247_b1.png And a zipped version of the screenshot dirs. Maybe only with one or two screenshots, *_s1.png. I don´t know if its much work for you to do this, just a question. --- If there wheren´t so much different dumps out there it would be a bit work, but at the end we could get something like gb64 or mame, where we have in the gameselection screen Information about the publisher etc. like i said in the previous post. --- so long PS: i will make the finished produkt avaible for the public, no question. One of the reasons i wanna make this set is that its really hard to remember a game by the name, when you see a picture the aha effect is closer. Last edited by lostfriend; 01 July 2004 at 09:27. |

any chance to get a huge set of Amiga game Screenshots?
hi,
like i said at the end of this tread, http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=13263 i wann a create a set of screenshots from nearly every game that exists. i planinng to name them after the tosec standart and or by simple game name. Its really hard browsing a list of x 1000 names and remember the right ones, when you see a picture its easier for the brain to go back . The set should be compatible to the xbox Amiga emulator and maybe to tugid. If anyone knows a good source for this, reply please. so long lostfriend think this is a better place for this than the HOl tread, hope it doesnt count as doublepost. |

lostfriend - sorry that we (the HOL team) haven't got back to you yet on this issue. In recent times we've had an increasing number of requests to use the HOL screenshots for various projects and we're discussing how best to proceed...
One point to note is that some screenshots are attached to entries with multiple names. |

ah, nice info. thx.
With mutiple names yo u mean games with "alternate names" right? wouldnt matter i think. Glad to hear that you are talking about that, other projects. sounds interresting when you decided what to do, why not make a torrent from it, could save you much traffic. |

Yes - for example, one game is known under four different names:
A-Soccer (OCS) Amiga Soccer Soccer International Soccer (Microdeal) |

I took a look on it, dont know how much games have multiple names,
but with a bit work they can be seperated. A-Soccer (OCS) / Amiga Soccer / Soccer / International Soccer (Microdeal) this line is the gamename entry in the database, right? |

This way you don't have any bandwith problems and everybody (including people not using Windows, *cough*) could use the data the way he wants. Of course, everybody out there would just put the whole thing online (or on his ebay-warez-cds) without crediting you guys, so I would understand if you don't like this approach. Thanks for a brilliant effort btw. |

I've used the ones from ClassicWB and I'm able to automatically convert/scale them to any size.
But I'm missing a lot of screenshots. Is there a .zip file that we can download instead of manually clicking on the internet? |
