Amiga 500 - black background in Workbench

Hello,

My Amiga 500 rev 5 is displaying a black background instead of the blue one (in prefs, I can see indeed it should be blue). In some games (a minority), colors are off. But in most games, the colors are perfect.

My display is through RGB to SCART.

I tried replacing Denise, but it didn't change anything.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Which prefs do you mean? Palette? What about WBPattern?

If you do not know how to set the default colors, go to Directory DEVS and rename the file "system-configuration", in this way OS 1.3 will use the default colors.

Hi Thomas, I'm using a 1.3 WB ADF I found online, no WBPattern.

The background is black, and I verified in Prefs / Preferences it should be the usual blue.

For all games displaying a bit of AmigaDOS screen, the background is black too, but for most of them, the game colors themselves are okay.

If you have renamed with another name and the colors have not changed then it's no longer a software problem.

This cannot be. The prefs program runs on the Workbench screen, it uses the same colors as Workbench. If you change colors in prefs, then Workbench colors change, too, immediately.

Maybe background and foreground are swapped in the prefs program?

Oh and of course each boot floppy disk has its own preferences. If you boot the Workbench ADF and change colors there, this has no effect on other disks like games. You would have to copy the system-configuration file from Workbench to the other disk, only then the colors would be equal.
