Minimig reads adf images (it supports r/w, but cannot create new images, you need to create new blank images yourself - same as Winuae) and hardfiles (r/w, again the hardfile must be created on the SD device before Minimig can use it), it doesn't support IPF images as far as I know of (at the last firmware update I tried it didn't, anyway).

Just to reaffirm whats already been said.

Minimig does support READ/WRITE, to HDF (Hard Drive Files via ARM adapter) and ADF, but IPF is explicitly not supported (Not yet at least) as IPF is closed source, and CAPS have not gotten around to support IPF libraries/Sources for PIC/ARM (If they ever do).

Huh? I have written to HDF without ARM using latest core. You dont need an ARM to use HDF files anymore (only draw back is the HDF is quite slow).

Alright, they must have updated the PIC code, but yeah its going to be *VERY* slow.

Depends on HDF size, I have tested with a massive 2gb and small 20mb.

With 2gb it takes between 2 to 5 mins to load any standard WHDLoad game. With the 20mb, obviously its alot faster at around 1 to 2 mins.

Drifting ever further away from the original topic...LOL

I've been trying all night to get the Minimig to boot from a HDF, with absolutely NO luck.

Was getting bummed out until the just read this. From what FOL says, booting from HDF, not only do you have to wait for Workbench to load...but then wait MINUTES for a WHDLoad install to load.

Feeling better now, as it sounds like booting games from ADF is MUCH faster!

I've got real Amigas for OS, so it doesn't really matter. However, I'm still interested in seeing it work on my Minimig, even if I rarely use it.

You need to setup HDF with RDB, or it will not work.
Try with a small partition first with just WB3.1 installed. Once you have that working, then go nuts on HDF size, .
Obviously the Filesystem / Scsi device limitations apply without patches.

Cool, got it

Far out though, it certainly is slow! Still cool that it works!

Patch the KS1.3 with the Scsi.device and use that, that is a little faster when being used.
Make sure you set the block size to 512KB, if using a newer FFS or it wont work. Or you have to use the old FFS from KickStart 2.00. Cant remember which.
