alexh: does the Amiga simply ignore any RAM over 8MB in one of these cards?

I dont think "ignore" is the right word.

There are just not enough address bits.

yeah maybe not ignore... maybe... "not know anything about it".

I presume SIMMS where designed in a way to make them compatible with cards/mobos that couldn't address the full "megabytage"
