Oh, the 030 has a small on chip cache the 020 lacks that with the MHz speed boost makes a big boost; otherwise they are identical. Last edited by prowler; 28 May 2013 at 01:23. Reason: Back-to-back posts merged. |

For most games, once you have enough RAM for WHDLoad to load them, they play the same speed as they would on an unexpanded system. There are some games that can use the extra CPU, but not a huge number. That being said, I really like my 030 at 28Mhz. Compared to what I paid for my FastRAM card, the 030 wasn't too much more and has lots more memory and a nice speed boost for those things that use it (Internet, FPS, etc..) I think you'll be happy either way.. desiv |

I first considered buying the ACA1220 but decided to pay almost double price for the ACA1232 instead. This was due to the fact that I wanted to use the 1200 for more than just games, and actually I hardly ever use it for gaming anyway.
For pure WHDLoad usage, I'd go for the ACA1220 board since you won't notice any difference in the games if you just play all the classic Amiga games made for the 500. Only booting WB and loading the games will be a little faster, but does 5 secs extra loading time make a difference for you? |
