I love the Suncom Slik Stik, like the Tac-2, but smaller.

The problem with both Slik Stiks and TAC-2s is the button. It gives you severe pain on the thumb area after heavy use (try playing R-Type or anything requiring constant fast firing)
I had both, actually, right now, Slik Stiks are my go-to joystick at home (I have three), but when I have to use them for a long time or play something intense, I switch to something better (Powercruiser).

I've been meaning to modify one with a nicer button but it's taking me forever.

That's true yeah, the buttons are the weak part, I prefer the sticks to microswitched ones though. Would be nice to do a non-destructive microswitch mod for the button(s) somehow.

110% agree! The only microswitched joystick I can bear is the Powercruiser. I hate clicky noises.

That is exactly my idea but I need a button that:
- doesn't click (much)
- fits

Arcade buttons are not available in that size it seems I wanted to put a Sanwa button.

I just modded one of my Slik Stiks with a microswitch, now it's by far my favorite joystick: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=92104 . I chose the quietest microswitch I had, it still clicks but I don't mind.

Did anyone ever try if the leaf switch of a Competition Pro or Wico Red Ball fits in the TAC-2?

Yeah, to being as stiff and shit to use. All commerciallly produced home computer joysticks are rubbish but the best are certainly the Wico Boss and Wico Command Control. At least they are comfortable to hold and made with same parts as many arcade machines of the era.

Does anyone remember a stick quite similar to this but without a button on top of the stick?
