Yes, what he said. Against the rules I'm afraid.

Just out of curiosity, what's the reason behind this SPS ban?
Personally I always found it intriguing that we can share ADF files, but not SPS. I'm sure there's some reason behind that I just can't see it. |

This rule was probably created in 2001 and its possible that this rule is outdated in 2012.
Who cares, that we would share IPFs too.(except APC-TCP company) So moderators and/or SPS members, why is it still forbidden to ask/upload SPS images. YOU can get IPFs everywhere in the Net but not here. Why we tolerate for example links to a above german Website, which has hosted IPFs. Moderators/SPS- members its your turn. ....indeed i dont like this rule. |

Maybe because it would mean we'd have to leave the board, not sure. Some lawyer might see this as endorsement. I agree it's an unpleasant situation. We don't like it. If we could, we'd just put it all up. More or less regular mails from IP lawyers asking about where to download images on our website show they are still around. It's a way of making money and some still actively try to find someone to sue.
Law is changing and there are efforts having legislation deal with abandonware. We just try to make the best out of the situation, trying to please everyone. The goal still is to preserve. I mean, if these are "all over the net" because some people share (I can't say I like it because it would be endorsement again - ask me about this over a beer in private), does it hurt getting a "don't ask for IPFs here" and the next chap sending a PM offering it? |

a good argument, that this rule still remains, we dont want, that you have to leave this board, we would loose some members with unique knowledge.
Another question, providing and sharing of IPFs is still a problem. Is the hardware side something different, you surely know, what i mean. |

I played this IPF about a year ago and it plays all the way to the end. Since this game is so short, I downloaded all three cracks on gamearchives.com and they are all duds. They don't crash as in guru, but just won't load the next sections. Also this is not the end of the game when this happens but it is getting close.

Out of curiosity, do they try "stealthily" to ask about where to download (as in: "hey, I am an old Amiga enthusiast, dude. I tried to download the games from your site but I have failed so far") or do they clearly show their true colours ("we are X, representing the interestes of company Y, developers of game Z....")?

It's usually a question where to download, without further explanation. In most cases, the email address reveals who's asking. They really don't care about what you have (as some people often suggest - but that's a different cup of tea for an NPO archive) or might have. Distribution is what matters to them and they know that's an easy deal so they go after it. It's common, especially in the US, to share profit. In these cases a gaming company authorizes a law firm to do whatever they like. In the event they make money (compensation for loss of revenue etc.), they share the loot.
I mean, contributors seem to have found a way or working together by e.g. sharing via the CAPSDI project (Google is your friend). We don't need to be in the line of fire when there are other ways people can help themselves. |

mr.vince, I understand what you say, but my main question still remains. You could use the exact same argument not to allow ADF sharing and yet we can do that, so what is the difference between sharing ADF or IPF files?
This rule doesn't really bother me at all it's just curiosity really, because IPF files can be found easily elsewhere. |

Since we do have an "official" sub-forum here, someone might interpret knowledge as endorsement of IPF files being shared. I said before, this really does not bother me personally, but if I can avoid jeopardising the project... small price to pay.

Fair enough I see your point.
