Did XCOPY defeat COPYLOCK?

Hi all,

I wondered if Xcopy 100% was able to copy Copylock protected games?

As far as I'm aware, no! Cyclone with the hardware could, not sure about ALL copylock versions though, but x-copy itself I think couldn't!

No.

You needed a hardware copier for Copylock and not all of them could do it either.

That's interesting stuff.

Anyone got contact details for both of the authors of these programs please?

i was talking the other day about backing up some of my originals to adf and uploaded football glory to the zone for someone.

i dont have any hardware like cyclone, only software like xcopy on my amiga. the version i had never really worked lol so if someone asked me for a copy of (for example) mortal kombat disks, how would i go about bypassing the disk protection?

or is it just not possible?

Well according to WHDLOAD, Mortal Kombat used Copylock, so you need a hardware copy system for the Amiga that supports Copylock (Like what was being discussed).

in addition even when you did manage to duplicate a copylock track using cyclone or similar the nature of the way it copied meant that you generally couldn't take a copy from the copy.

Which is fair enough. It was a personal backup copy right?

Back in the day I built an adapter for the external floppy. I used it with XCopy I think. IIRC it just swapped a few pins. My friends dad got hold of the somewhat rare 23 pin D connectors for me (I think he worked in TV repair).

Anyone know what it was I built?

X-Copy does not utilize the dongle, but Cyclone did. It shipped on the same X-Copy distribution disk.

My memory could be faulty but i feel sure there were versions of x-copy that had cyclone support built in.

X-Copy was very overrated, Parameter coppiers can Copy/Crack/Patch games, Shame they never got updated as many games must have been cracked for there WHDload installs.
