Vengeful Chip - A video game music collection in FLAC

I started up this project because this is something that hasn't been done before. The goal of it is to collect as many game soundtracks from as many platforms (Lemmings as an example, we have it's complete soundtrack from 17 different ports), from the common IBM-PC, to the more exotic X68000, from common consoles like SNES to 3DO or PC-Engine. From that Amiga is included too ofcourse. I stride to provide as much high quality content and to give as many soundtracks that are exclusive to the site (ie. not found anywhere else)

You can see all the available soundtracks here:

http://vengefulchip.tk

Also you can see all my Amiga postings here. I promise there'll be a lot more in the future.

Also I'm looking for some help, if you have a bit of time, please review this page, I'll be eternally grateful ^^

Make sure to read the information appropriate for requests, if you'll ever want to do one.

Thanks for your time, and if I posted this in the wrong section on these forums, mods please feel free to move/remove the thread.

Also I have made a reddit community and a twitter account, so feel free to subscribe/follow those

YouTube Channel is here.

Notice: If you intend to use these recordings anywhere, please make sure to credit the original composers, and credit me or the site.

How is this project being recorded, direct from machine or emulated?

At first it'll all be emulated but in the future I hope to be able to get sound directly from machine. If people offer to help or put their machines to use, there is hope for authentic hardware recorded sound.

I once started recording the Acorn Archimedes Lemmings music directly from my A3010... if i get level codes then i might be able to record all the songs from the game :-)

Aren't you the same guy from CVGM?

Here are some Archimedes codes: http://www.4cheaters.com/archimedes/.../lemmings-1905

The Archimedes version is one thing we're missing, since it's sound emulation is very cumbersome.

Sure! Fun Levels 1-17 have the "standard" music, while Fun level 22 gives you the 1st Shadow of the Beast OST, Tricky level 14 gives you "Menace", Taxing Level 15 gives you "Awesome" and Mayhem level 22 gives you "Shadow of the Beast II". Hope that helps ^^

".. I stride to provide as much high quality content..." and emulation doesn't fit well IMHO. Kamelito

I agree, but what can I do? As long as I don't have original hardware and nobody offers there is no other way. What more can I do?

Well, I could only try and upload/post more stuff in the hope that one day I'll be able to make a complete sound museum with original hardware lol.

I probably did not get a reply because people aren't interested in this sort of thing.

Well, it is true that it is probably not the kind of project that will motivate every retro-gamer.
I am pretty sure you will get some helpers, sooner or later.

If you have not done so, you might want to post on Vogons ( http://vogons.zetafleet.com )

I only check there when I have issues with old PC games but I am pretty sure there are people with pretty rare PC audio hardware, like MT-32s, which could be interesting since some DOS versions had soundtracks that sounded very differently depending on the soundcard.

Not sure on how much help you might get though.

Was there already, haha: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewforu...8ca4cbd9eccc31

MT-32 emulation has got to a point where it's quite accurate compared to the real hardware, sometimes it ends up sounding even better, so that's one point I'm not worrying about, though it's always better to have the original sound.

I recorded all Archimedes Lemmings songs and 25 from Ohno more Lemmings (cant find song 26? super lemming?)

But what are the names of these songs?

My Archimedes recordings has better instrument arrangement (as they are recorded from the game) than the ones heard in the youtube videos... they are not all hard left or right like Amiga limitations in the Archimedes version.

Added Stefan's recordings a month or so ago on the site, thanks once again! =)

Also I finally added the Leisure Suit Larry soundtrack collection. Took me ages to finish it, juggling with other stuff I have to do. It includes all the games in the series (except LSL7, which has digital audio only) and has the soundtracks from all the IBM-PC sound modules they supported and a few extra systems for LSL1EGA. ^^

If anyone can give me Amiga save states or record for LSL2 3 and 5 please let me know!

I would just refrain from posting stuff recorded from emulators from now on.
Other than that, great job. I may be able to help you at some point, if I find the motivation. But your work is very much appreciated.
