Recommended ways to clean CDTV exterior

I’ve put both of my CDTV units back into commission. Does anyone have recommendations on cleaning their exterior without damaging it? They have some light residue since they are so old. Any advice would be most appreciated. It’s nice to use them again. I’ll be looking to do some upgrades to them soon.

Mr Sheen... it's good for things with dust residue. As far as I'm aware it is safe on the material types it is made for.

Pyromania my friend,

For some reason, I've noticed that of late, you seem to have a habit of creating new threads under Amiga scene section when it's not really the best place given the thread title / contents.

...so thread moved to the more appropriate support.Hardware section

The woman working in the electronics section of Meijer said this would do a good job cleaning the Amiga CDTV.

I told her I needed to clean the exterior of it and it’s kind of like a DVD player. Since I know she really does not know what a CDTV is should I clean it with this stuff? I’ll definitely use it to clean my iPad Pro. What does everyone think. I want a clean and shiny CDTV but don’t want to f*ck it up.

No one answered my last question so I’ll just buy Mr Sheen and use that to clean my CDTV units.

Generally ammonia-based cleaners (e.g. Windex) are good for cases, alternating with isopropyl alcohol. Some paints/labels are vulnerable to IPA so be careful. Always spray the cloth you are using to clean the surface, rather than the surface itself. For the initial cleaning you can spray the cloth *very* liberally to the point where it is almost soaked. The main goal here is to prevent any puddling-pooling of the liquid from getting into the case.

You can start with a rough cloth like a typical towel to get the large amounts of gunk off, then finish off the cleaning with a microfiber cloth.

The microfibre cloth is essential for things like electronics, car interiors, etc. You'll get lint all over your newly-cleaned surface, otherwise.
